I stuck mine to the paint on my 3'd Gen. I prefer the look of it and it seems more water resistant.

Not a 3rd gen but they haven't changed that damn bar, took me a good half hour to figure out which end was up. Mine isn't on the truck at the moment but a bunch of Google-fu found me this, maybe it'll help?

Thanks for that pic, so basically that's how I have mine set up but it seems that the bar is a bit too wide sometimes I have to fight to set it in and scratches my bed caps, I don't care, yea I know it's a truck so I may just have to trim some plastic off, and if anyone ask yes, I replaced the weather striping it comes withIMG_1367.jpgIMG_1369.jpg

Is there any room on the passenger side to move the whole setup over a quarter inch?

Nope it's pretty much the same, I guess it's supposed to sit on top of the plastic side rail. I came up with a solution for the mean time, I stuck some foam under where the bar snaps in, that way it raises the rail and it's easier. The foam isn't really noticeable with the flap down, I may swap the foam for a black piece of rubber of some sortIMG_1374.jpg

Haven't had a chance to read through this whole thread yet, but can anyone recommend some cleaning products/techniques? I'm looking for the best products to clean both the fabric and the windows as well as some kind of uv protectant. 303 products? Thanks for any advice much appreciated.

I'm guessing not since the Bestop front/cab window is not removable. I've been wrong before but let's see.

Oh, sorry, no. It's Softopper. I assumed everyone knew that since this is the ST thread! LOL. You Bestop guys have contaminated it with your weird side windows and your roof hump!

    EDIT - SOLD

Disclaimer: dont try humping on a Bestop, it folds like a motel ironing board :anonymous:

For you Softopper guys and gals, how fast have you gone with the sides rolled up? I love the look and it would be cool to be able to leave them rolled up at highway speeds (60mph) if I wanted.

Debating on pulling the trigger in the future as I need some water resistant storage ideas for the rear.

Do any of you live in an area where you get a lot of sun and keep it on year round? How do these hold up?

I have but just once or twice with no issues. Probably 65 max. I've had mine on for almost a year and love it.

I had a couple questions for people who own the Softopper

    1. How easy would it be to remove the entire top including rails? I realize the top comes off easy via pins, but do the rails attach to the bed rails in anyway other than the included clamps? My plan is to purchase one and mount it up every year when camping season starts for me (which would be April) and keep it on the truck through October. The other half of the year I would like to take it off and mount my tonneau cover back up for the winter time. Just curious...may just wind up loving it so much I just leave it on year round.

    2. Has anyone been able to mount bikes with fork holders attached to the front bed rail and still have the top folded in the down position against the back of the cab? Or would there not be enough room? In good weather I would still like to fold the softopper down and attach my bikes to my bed rails like this:
