Been thinking the same, wondering how the topper will hold up against the cold, road salt, and snow. Been watching craigslist for a cheap roll up Tonneau to run during the winter.

just was wondering if it was worth purchasing... I am saving up the money and want to budget for extra goodies if needed or if they warranted a purchase

I didn't order the bag with the topper, but am planning to at some point. I bought the topper to only be used temporarily and indeed took it off the truck after a couple weeks. Initially I didn't think I'd need the bag, but now that I've got it collapsed, I can see wanting it. Right now my topper is out in the garage with an old sheet/dropcloth wrapped around it to protect it. The bag would be a much better option.

I bought the rear screen for the doggies. I rode in the back once, and it gets real hot back there without the screen. Its a bit of a pain to swap the windows because of that giant strip of Velcro. I think its worth it, but its easier just to roll the plastic window up and leave it open.
Didn't buy the storage bag. Mine will rarely be folded down.

I think I want to get one but Im wondering about the cold and snow potential. I want to get one mainly for snowboarding trips, keep all of our gear dry and out of a nosy nancy's eye (better than keeping it in the bed w/no cover).... I'd probably keep it on year round... anything to say for or against that?

Well it's been over 2 months since i placed my bestop on.

-It's very good for the dry storage, it rained like a mofo last night and my bed was still dry as can be

-It looks really good with the windows on/off.. I took the windows off twice before it got too cold to put them back on, i plan on keeping the topper on through the winter to see how it fairs.

-The windows are tinted farily dark. It matches my tint well and it does make it difficult to see inside my bed with all my various stuff in it at the moment.

-It was worth the money i paid for it so far and when i add a bed rack to go over it this weekend, hopefully it'll be that much more useful as my RTT will be sitting on top of it

its cheaper than a fiberglass topper, does pretty much the same thing and it's flexible (along with the softopper respectively). I'd go for it if it's something you think will be useful

yeah I agree... I can justify spending the money because of the utility and use of it... I got a shitty cover from autoanything that has snaps around the frame... SOB to put on and take off... can't really access the whole bed.. This makes the most sense

I don't know about Bestop, but I ordered my Softopper with an extra-dark rear window. It cost an extra $20 which I think is well worth the peace of mind. While this thing is obviously not secure at all, it's the concept of keeping honest people honest by not tempting them with what they can't see as they're walking past. I don't have a dead-on shot of the rear, but you can pretty much see how dark it is in this pic-
