cool, I plan to black out all the rails too. I was trying to gauge how the dimensions [mostly length] of the topper relate to the length of the double cab. basically for visual balance, yeah I'm weird and I over-obsess about things like that. I was worried that it will look super long and goofy with sides down, and wanted to see if it got better with them up. But I'm also feeling like I need to get one for my purposes so I'd have to live with it if it does.

Just wanted to let you know I didn't forget about this, but we're currently in the middle of a monsoon & thunderstorm of epic proportions. And it's not going anywhere before dark. So I'll have to shoot for tomorrow. Sorry man.

Does anyone know the inside height clearance for the Soft Topper of a 3rd Gen Taco?

Also, what is the average air speed velocity of a laden Swallow?

Looking to get a softopper for my incoming Tacoma. Can anyone tell me what the visibility is like through the rear window? Just curious how transparent that vinyl is. Blind spot issues?

No issues looking out the back window at this point, been on the truck month or so. I just drove around the other day with sides up and was looking for visibility differences, and felt what I lose the mirrors take care of.

I too was worried about blind spot issues. But then I learned how to adjust my mirrors to cover the blind spot better and all was good. Visibility out the back has been fine otherwise.

I have one of these and used it camping last weekend. Worked pretty good! It uses two D cell batteries. I left the fan on high all night (didn't need the light since I had one in my shell) and it still had juice left over in the morning.

I use Aerospace 303 on mine. Wipe/scrub with a brush or towel depending how dirty it is, and wipe off the excess with another clean towel.

I ordered and just received the ChemicalGuys convertible top care kit. It comes with cleaner, protectant, horsehair brush and microfiber towels. I'll report back after a few uses.

There are three different options for the rear vinyl: clear, factory tint (closely matches the factory 20% on the rear windows), and dark tint. I have 5% tint all around on my truck, so I went with the dark tint. I have zero issues during the day, and some slightly diminished visibility at night, but nothing terrible. It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be. Whether it's dirty or clean affects my visibility far more than how dark the tint is. An added benefit is that even during the day, you usually can't see into the bed through the dark tint. I like to think that not being able to see into my bed helps to at least cut down on those pesky "crimes of opportunity" when someone walks by.
