I'm happy with my Bestop Supertop. I had it on my 94 2WD pickup but removed it before selling that truck. It worked out that it fit my new 13 Tacoma LB. I just had to buy new clamps to fit the rail system. I have the tinted windows but keep them out unless I need to haul something in wet weather.

I use Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner and Polish on my super top windows. $6 on Amazon. I used it for many years on a convertible top plastic rear window and it works great.

Stopped by Softopper today, since they are local to me, to pickup a rear mesh window. I plan on using my Softopper through the winter and am debating if using the rear mesh window might be the better option through the winter. I know I'll have more piece of mind rolling up the mesh window in the winter vs the vinyl window. I have some load bars mounted in the bed of the truck and a ski rack. I'm thinking I may need to keep the rear window rolled up at times throughout the winter with skis in the rack hanging past the tailgate. The thought of that is what really made me think that the mesh window would be the better option.

We've only had one snow fall so far this season, but the rear vinyl window got dirty pretty quickly and I'm not looking forward to worrying about cleaning snow and dirt off that brittle window throughout the winter. So, I'm going to give the mesh window a shot for that reason, too. Granted, that will let more snow and whatnot into the bed of the truck, but i think i'm ok with that. I'm also not sure as to how much snow will "stick" to the mesh as compared to the vinyl window. I'll have to see how it's working out as the winter progresses...

BTW, I can't speak highly enough of the folks at Softopper. This was my second trip over there to get something for a Softopper I bought off of Craigslist. They've been amazing both times I've been there, their customer service is top notch. Super friendly people and definitely stand behind their product. Both times I was there, they went out of their way to make sure I had all of the little things I needed, even giving me some freebies like velcro and smaller replacement parts.

Put the topper back on for the impending storm, want to see how it will hold up with the rain…But what's annoying is the front window keeps coming up and flapping into the back of the truck- hitting the plastic window against the back glass window, maybe it was just extra windy or maybe the tracks are out of alignment again.

I have the inside flap secured by velcro. Last time this happened the rails were off (one side farther ahead than the other) but I haven't messed with the rails recently. Hmm, maybe I need to tighten the straps more? I was wondering about what I have read on here- maybe I need magnets in the front flap.

You need to install some of the button-snap's that came with the softtopper.

My front panel used to get blown in once in awhile when I was using a minimal amount of Velcro. Now I have a 2" strip on every "rib" on the bed. Had it up to 80mph and it did not get blown in of flap around. I'm also not using the button snaps.

More Velcro and button snaps will fix the issue. However I had just Velcro on mine and when I drove fast with he sides rolled up it would always come loose. Button snaps fixed it.

The button snaps should be self tapping.

Holes are easy to fix. They are not big holes either.

Thanks guys. I bought it used from MrGrimm so no buttons for the bed. But I had used velcro about a 1.5" strip (however not the heavy duty one) on each rib for the length of the inside panel and hadn't had any problems until I just put the topper back on this week. Must be an alignment thing again. Hmph. Can I get more buttons/rivets from the actual company or something I can get at the hardware store? Can't wait to try sleeping in the back with the topper on- wonder if it will be warm enough for 40 degree temps (with sleeping bag and blanket on top)
