I've seen tan on others, just doesn't appeal to me. I worry that others would tire of the tan color after a while and wish they just had got black.

I actually think on occasion that I should have got grey instead of black. So far I notice no fading, but the thought is often in the back of my mind.

I have a little water that sneaks in via corners, but have a bed mat so it's not an issue for me. I could spend some time placing some weather stripping in the right places and it would be a non issue.

I find it the same as my former rigid cap. Both are 95 percent water tight. If I wanted 100 percent waterproof, I'd be staying in a hotel.

    Basically.

Started the cleaning/re-waterproofing process of my Supertop.

Scrubbed 3+ years of dirt out of it today -

I'm slowly getting closer to buying a SoftTopper to replace my hard shell. At the rate I'm (over)analyzing this I should make a decision in the next year or so. Anyway, a couple questions:
    - ventilation while camping ... obviously one can open it up as much as wanted, but how about screens?
    - security? I'm not so much worried about someone cutting the fabric, as it's also pretty easy to pry open a window in a hard shell, but is there a way to add a small padlock or cable lock to the rear window? I worry that someone can just pop it open and grab stuff, and then close up and there's no sign of forced entry. In that regard it's less secure than a latching soft tonneau, when combined with locking tailgate.

    Thanks.

You can buy a rear window that is a screen instead of vinyl to help with ventilation. I bought one but have yet to use it.

As far as security, there isn't much you can do. Honestly, anyone I ask to grab something out of the back up my truck doesn't know how to open the ST lol you have to unzip the zipper on both sides, rip the Velcro, and then pop the rod ends out of their holders. Not very straightforward if you have never opened one before.

This is probably also the only downfall as it's not easy to get into with only one hand.

For anyone interested in cleaning their topper, I highly recommend 303 Multi-Surface Cleaner. It took mine from a dull faded dusty black to a rich dark clean black.

I put two coats of 303 Fabric Guard on it after work today. It looks brand new now. I plan on doing two more coats tomorrow just for good measure.

For any one interested in doing this, a 16oz bottle of the cleaner was enough to do the topper with about 1/4 of a bottle left. When you do the Fabric Guard, use a foam paint roller and foam paint brush to apply it. This eliminates any over spray plus makes it easier to apply.

Wipe up any drips on the windows or paint before it dries and youll have no issues. Ive read complaints where people say the Fabric Guard will etch the windows, but it didnt for me. When I was done, I hit them with some quick detailer just to be sure.

Welp, It rained all evening. The water beaded right off the topper. I may not do anymore coats, Im pretty damn happy with it as is (but I cant leave shit alone so I probably will do more coats)

Ill try to snap some "after" pictures tomorrow for comparison.
