Pretty close to what I'm thinking of doing. 5100's at 0 with 887's, but was thinking Dakars.
Your tires looked like 17's for some reason?

 

It's pretty much my go to config in the summer. You get shade, and a breeze when in the bed of the truck. Pull down the sides when rain is expected.

 

well guys.. my softopper came in today and I spent 4 hours putting it on..


It may not last.. veterans speak up.. but I put the Velcro on the plastic cap on tailgate.. ( for past few hours its held very well)... I will post pics of it tomorrow.. I still think I need to adjust it a little more.. the cold made the topper not stretch at all! used hair dryers and heaters and finally got it to stretch.. will see what it looks like tomorrow..

 

yea I figured I would try this.. if it fails i'm doin the magnets..

 

I put the velcro on the tailgate below the cap, it is on the paint so I am not really happy with it there.
I want to have a cap made of metal that will drop down lower and I can use the magnet/velcro solution

For me it is too high up, I probably mounted mine farther towards the back?

 

The adhesive comes off without ruining the paint, I just dont like it there, looks crappy. I like the look of yours with the riviets. The magnets would wear the paint, because it would move.
If I ever get to bending and drilling the cap I want, I will post pics.

 

another question... tonneaus always say mpg increase... what about everyone's soft toppers?

Anyone with a toolbox also have one of these? I have a Kobalt box, it's extremely light. I'm thinking if I was to acquire a soft top I could simply remove my toolbox from the bedrails and somehow secure it in the bed. Anyone done anything similar? For road trips this would be perfect. As well as camping.

 

If anyone wants to sell and ship their black short box softopper let me know

haha..I feel like i'm on an african safari driving it..lol.. definitely gives my truck a different look for sure.. can't say i'm a stormtrooper ...maybe a sandtrooper..lol

 

Love the tan soft top. I'm still deciding on getting a shell or soft top they both have pros and cons
