Bloodyclownsuit, is your topper charcoal?? You might be the only example of 3rd Gen inferno with a CHARCOAL topper (not black) on the internet lol. Would u mind posting a pic of the sides rolled down? I think I want to go w/ grey too but would like to see it before I order.

This is the same topper on both my gen 2 and gen 3. I just got the new beaver tail back for my gen3 because of the thicker tailgate, that’s the only difference that I can see.

Is 'beaver tail' the curved bar?

You are a lifesaver, my friend. I couldn't find a pic of an inferno/grey topper anywhere! It looks amazing... Deff like it more than black or tan. I'm going to powder coat the frame black too so I'm thinking the contrast will be pretty sharp looking. Ordering mine now!

Anyone mind posting a profile shot? Preferably 3rd gen. I wanna see how close y’all have it to the cab. Debating if I wanna push mine up closer so that the front of the topper is flush with the bed. Thanks

My setup. Not the best angle but you can see there’s still some gap.

I took my softopper off for the winter because I was worried about cracking the windows, but now I'm wishing it was still on. It doesn't snow much here (Western Washington), and rarely stays below freezing for too long.

I have the screen window I could put on the back, but then it wouldn't be waterproof.

Am I being paranoid? Do most people run them year round or seasonally?

Lol you def have a bigger gap than mine. Still looks good. How’d it stand up to the snow and cold? Just got a lot of rain down in VB.

Haha they’re still around. I’m not active but still rock the ultraman

fyi, for those of you with 3rd gens

From softopper: Regarding the rear window bar and plastic mounts for it

"We re-designed the tops for a better fit for the 2016 and newer Tacomas. The bedrails were made an inch longer to accommodate / fit to the newer bed / tailgate design. This model now gets the regular plastic brackets and the straight bar, and fits to the cab better.

The rear window and pocket on the rear window on your model (TAC 74) are not made to accept the curved rear bar."

Can you drop the tailgate without opening the back window on a 3rd gen?

    Me too.

Just need to add a way to pull the tailgate up from inside the closed topper when getting ready to crash for the night.

I attached a short loop of nylon webbing using one of the tailgate liner screws, exactly to do this. I placed it off to the side so it's less likely to snag loading/unloading. No problem so far.
