Any tips for installing the snaps affixed to the bed?

Don't do it. At least that's the advice I followed. Just used Velcro, but didn't even do that at first.

I made some short straps for each ST snap. They have a connecting snap on one end and are tensioned to bed rail mounts on the header rail. No velcro either, and so far it's held up great.

Idk how other 3rd gen guys are doing it, but because of the thicker alloy bed header, the fabric ST panel with the snaps doesn't even come close to reaching my composite bed (where the instructions say to affix the screw-snaps)... This worked for me.

I measured three times, drilled once. Everything is good.

So I’ve made attachment points on top with magnets. Pretty cool and works great. Anybody interested let me know. No Velcro on truck.

@ others above... I saw Can back and was not impressed. Rather have hard top...

Yeah I'm about to order mine within the next few days. What was the shipping time like on it for yours?

It came in really fast. I think it was like 3 or 4 days. Can’t remember exactly, but I remember it was faster than I expected.

Is the storage boot really necessary?

I don’t think so but if it’s down for a bit I would to like to take care of it. It’s not expensive either.

I keep mine behind the rear seat, have used it twice I think last summer. I would only say yes you need it if you plan to drive around a bunch with the topper folded down. That being said I felt better knowing the topper was all contained in the bag when I did use it.

I think there are straps and clips built into the topper to hold it. I am not positive and will check next time I take it down, if I remember

So there is no easy way to determine 3rd gen topper vs 2nd gen? Other than it may appear taller?

I think the back bar may be different. Mine is bent or curved to follow the line of the 3rd.

The 2nd gen will fit but it's taller and the rear looks more vertical than the 3rd gen. There's pics floating around here. I wish I would've saved the posts.
