Getting my ST on Friday. Is there a preferred way to do the seam sealing - initially / off the truck or after installation?

^ Pretty sure it does. Saw somewhere on this thread someone that posted pix. It better. I'll know for sure tomorrow. The clamps attach to the bed "tracks" and up and over the supplied bed rails so I don't see why the cut outs for the tonneau should matter.

This may be a dumb question, but is it besr to apply the seam sealant on the interior or exterior of the seams?

I did the interior of mine when I had it, and I still had leaks. It’s entirely possible that I didn’t do a great job though :notsure:

That was my thinking as well being the supplied seam sealant from Softopper is visible after application.

Like I said, it was likely a dumb question as interior application seems like the common sense thing to do to me. But I have known myself to think somewhat differently than others from time to time.

Anyone here ever drove at highway speeds with the sides and rear window rolled up? Softopper FAQ says it's safe but I'm skeptical about it not taking flight.

Do you secure the rolled up flaps to the frame with the snap on fasteners? It just seems they would flap if not strapped to the frame.

Just roll the rear and side flaps up, roll them tight and secure it with the snap-on fastener. Leave the cab-side flap down and secured with the buttons attached to the bed. It's not going anywhere.

Thanks! Just wasn't sure cause I was having trust issues with how the topper only snaps onto the forward and aft arches and not around it. If anyone was wondering why one would want it rolled up for highway use, it's not only that it looks freaking cool but to aid in blind spots especially when towing.

That's exactly why I had mine rolled up. The towing blind spots are terrible and backing up a boat with the softopper on is just about impossible because there really are a few angles that you can only see out the back, over the bed, and they can't be covered with mirrors or the backup camera.

I have always been ok backing up a trailer, until I started using the camera, and it sucks for some reason. Now I try not to look at the screen if backing a trailer.
