Thanks. I was hoping I didn't need to use the buttons but it looks like that's what I'll have to do.

I haven't worked with the Softopper for a while, but if the bottom edge of the cab panel is still a tube, then stuff a couple of feet of pipe insulation inside of the tube to wedge it between the cab and the bed of the truck.

I installed velcro on the inside vertical part of the bed to mate to the velcro on the top. I've driven 2,500 miles in 5 days & not once did it come up. I posted pic's in here somewhere.

I remove my Bestop after every camping trip if it'll be more than a month before my next trip. It's less than a half hour of work to ensure it's kept looking brand new (& un-vandalized) safe & sound up in my garage rafters

Edit to add: sorry this is for my Bestop, apparently some here take exception to there being other similar options on the market. Take my comments with a grain of non-Softoper salt :bananadead::cheers:

I used the Velcro and gave no issues. Mine goes on in the spring to store my baseball coaching and team gear, and comes off in the fall when I put on the tonneau.

I used the velcro as well and haven't had an issue on multiple 500+ mile road trips at highway speeds. I couldn't bring myself to drill into my truck just yet.

No matter what it'll fit better than a Besttop! Those look like such a hack on our trucks

could not agree with you more! i do however, like that bestop has side windows, but i would still take a softopper over a bestop any day of the week. any tacoma with a bestop ive seen in person or online, the fitment looks terrible, especially in comparison to the softopper. i guess it depends on what you want out of a topper.

That is what I like about the CanBack, it fits on all four sides.

I sure like the cargo rack! I'm in the design stage for making a cage for my ST. I just know that I'm gonna be disappointed.

In order for the ST to fold under the cage, the cage will need to be stupid tall.

I bought the ST so I could fold it forward. If I can't because of the cage, I might as well have bought a rigid cap.

Here’s my softopper, just installed it a week ago, so far I am happy with it, front stays tucked in, I did however screw in the 3 buttons.
I will be mounting a bed rack over the softopper, but it will be a modular type so I can fold down the topper when I need to.

Sounds like you are capable of fabing out your cap rack, but they are commercially available (and easy to see the design if you want to make it yourself). I know that this one works with the Softopper.

I was think something more along these lines but I could definately use that vanguard rack as a base to build on..
    Thanks!

I forgot the folding shells leave the top of the bed rails open, which gives you a lot stronger mounting base. Also, you have a distinct advantage in that you do not have to ship it.

That horizontal bar on the back half in intriguing. You can mount a lot of things to the side of this rig.

Something wrong with this one.. its too tall. Wrong model? Mine is level with my roof line. The leading edge has a slight up-slope from the frame rib, otherwise it flows pretty level. **I know this is a thread about Bestops, as has been thrown in my face, I'm just taking the opportunity to discuss other very similar products on the market. :stirthepot:

I'm going to be building a rack over mine as well to haul my kayaks on. I'm kinda thinking detachable at the rear and have a pivot point near the front top to allow the rack to lift up high enough to flip the ST forward. Might have to add some struts to help hold it up there?
