In general, stay away from anything with petroleum products or silicone in them. They look good in the short term, but they will leach out the plasticizers in the vinyl. Essentially, it greatly increases the aging rate of the material. This is true on dashes and seats as well.

303 Products make the protectants and cleaners that manufacturers who have to honor the warranty want you to use.

    For Vinyl materials:
    https://www.goldeagle.com/product/?fwp_brands=303-products

    • Aerospace Protectant for UV protection
    • Vinyl Convertible Care Kit (Page 2 on product listings)
    • Convertible Cleaner Pack that they claim will restore the color. (I trust 303 Products, but I am unfamiliar with this particular item)

    For cloth:
    https://www.goldeagle.com/product/?fwp_applications=water-repellent&fwp_brands=303-products

NOTE: Many manufacturers specifically state that using ArmorAll voids their warranty.

And once you get it back to black and looking sharp again, let us know how much $$$ it took to get it there.
Would hate to hear your $60 investment is now tipping $500.

I know it won't take that much money, I'm just ribbing you.

I just bought a 3rd Gen Softopper and slapped it on my 2nd Gen Baja. I am actually liking the fitment of the topper on my truck. There seems to be less gap between the topper and the cab and the top of the softopper, while a little shorter, does not look bad.

Well after more hours than I care to admit measuring, cutting, measuring, sewing, measuring, starting over.... I finally got the front window cover in a "good enough" shape for the San G trip this weekend. Snaps at all 4 corners, 1" seam all around. Stitching & edges are straight enough to look good from the tailgate lmao. Eventually I'll do the other 3 but this bulkhead window is the only 1 that isn't tinted so it was my priority for helping to sleep in past 6am

Very cool to see another seamstress. I was shop foreman at an auto trim shop for years. Kinda miss my old sewing days. Looks great!

Only picture I have right now. I’ve had it on for about four months now and hands down best addition to the taco thus far.

I've read through the entire thread and I didn't see any pictures looking straight out the back from inside the cab with the Softopper up.

I'm not expecting to see much but how is visibility looking through your rear view mirror? Can you see things clearly directly behind you or are you surrendering to just using side mirrors? Comparable to a hard shell?

I can see out the back, but as it ages the clearity has dwindled.

My plastics haven't faded much over the years, but I use 303 aerospace on them religiously.

I'll do the same to my softopper and I suppose time will tell.

Have you tried a white vinegar and water mix? Typically you have to let it set for an hour or maybe overnight and then clean it. I did that when I had a jeep long.... long ago.

I have my rear glass tinted, plus the soft top so can really just tell if a car is behind you during the day and sometimes at night if their headlights are tall enough or they’re not tailgating the shit out of me. But yeah definitely use my side mirrors a lot more now

Thanks for the input - pretty much what I figured. I've got 7 years on my roll-up tonneau cover and it's just starting to wear a couple of small holes. I'm thinking about switching to the ST.
