What do y'all think about this? Not sure how it happened, but I can't seem to get the zipper to go past this so I can disconnect it and put it on properly.

Finally joined the softopper krew. Installed last night and couldn't get a good shot until today. This thing is so cool! Makes my rear facing dashcam useless and my fresh rear window stickers are now hidden horsepower.

Roll 1" high strength magnetic strip without adhesive, roll of hook and loop (Velcro) without adhesive, a roll of doubled side heavy duty high strength outdoor rated tape, and a roll of clear bra.

Clear bra goes on the tailgate to prevent abrasion from dust and grit. Use the double sided tape to stick the magnetic strip to the hook and loop. The adhesives that come on hook and loop and on magnetic strips is crap and doesn't hold up to summer heat and abuse.

So we have had some pretty good rain storms in the last couple of days, which is the first rain we have had since I installed the top. I seem to be getting a fair bit of water coming through in a couple of spots. I'm just wondering what everyone's experience has been. Should I just smear some more seam sealer in the areas that seem to allow the water to come through?

I got the same thing happening to me. Mine is only about a week old and I apparently missed some spots with the seam sealer.

Can tent sealer spray cans be used on the large parts?

After it drys out, use the seam sealer on the straps and down about an inch on each strap, these seem to be a problem area for some people since they tend to wick in water. Get along the seams on both sides where the straps attach also. I did two coats of sealer on the seams when it was new and it has kept it dry. I bought an extra bottle of gear aid seam sure when I bought the topper (a little over a year ago), but haven't needed it yet. Here's the method I used...

    • Wipe down with rubbing alcohol first.
    • Put it on extra thick around the straps and down the straps a little bit.
    • Unsnap the sides and loosen the buckles so you can seal behind the bars.
    • Unsnap the end bars so you can seal behind them.
    • Squeeze some of the sealer in a small disposable cup and use a craft paint brush about 1/4" to 3/8" wide. It works better upside down than the built in applicator.
    • A headlamp helps out to ensure you are applying an even coating and not missing any areas.
    • Ignore the neighbors watching you crawl around in the back of your softopper with a headlamp on.

What about having it open/unfolded & upside down on the lawn? It seems (not seams!) it'd be much easier that way.

Sure, if you want to do it the easy way.

    Upside down on grass
Seems the seams are sealed just right
    Keeps the inside dry

Sounds a bit like putting roofing felt and shingles overhead in the attic instead of on top of the roof where they belong.

Seam sealer goes on the inside, not the outside. The top itself is the shingles & roofing felt.
