I bought one used and it didn't have the plastic clips on the end of the rails or a bar that goes across the back, should it, it also didn't have the right clamps. I'm going to have to wait till Monday to call softtopper to see how much they are. The zipper is messed up too.

I can't see where the back flap comes off at all, its sewn into the shell itself. The zippers go all the way up and stop it doesn't zipper all the way around

Climb in bed and you will see a Velcro tab that stops zipper from going all way up...undo it and it will zip off

My rails have holes in them too where the clamps are supposed to go, I don't have them but mine aren't the style where the clamp goes over it. Or it doesn't look like it.

The zipper looks to be screwed up on the main part not on the door flap. So I may have to pay a canvas shop to sew a new one on.

Sub'd. Can't wait to pull the trigger on a softtopper. These look badass and without the high price or pain of removing it without a friend. :D

I'll post some pictures of mine installed tomorrow. I've also emailed softtopper to see if they will replace my zipper, if not I need to replace my canvas top.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Looks like the zipper will work but will pull apart. i'd take a couple diaper pins or similar and secure it for now until you can figure out a fix. maybe a needle and thread will work too. just to keep it from getting worse. GL with it. let us know how you make out.

I tried to pin it but the slide doesn't connect the teeth, I even lubed the zipper with soap which is an awesome way to fix most zippers but they won't grab. I'm hoping softtopper will let me be a whole new top at a discounted price if they can't fix it.

Recent camping trip included a day of pretty steady moderate rain. The topper held up and kept our gear dry! I have been wiping it with Aerospace 303 vinyl protectant and it has kept it looking new and helped to keep it water repellant!

I know this is mostly a softopper thread but I am trying to decide between that and a bestop. For extra storage in the back and the part that has me wavering is for my dog in the back. I am just wondering if the windows are better for the pup. Anyone haul dogs with the softopper? It seems a little simpler design and on some trucks looks a little better but I have seen some good looking truck pics with the bestop as well. I think windows out the bestop looks better than sides rolled up but windows in softopper looks better. Decisions, decisions. I guess the pup is the deciding factor.

The windows on the bestop don't open, so the only benefit is the pup can see out out. The softtopper has an available "doggy door" front window and a mesh back window. you can even get a mesh front window I think (or just take it out) plenty of air going though...

the other thing I think would happen is the pup would drag it's nose all over the inside of the side windows on the besttop leaving you more to clean... $.02

ebbs is right. Pretty much the same. I have had my dog in the back but I avoid it. It gets frickin hot back there in the sun. Unless you have the back panel rolled up/off, it is a heat trapping machine. We are talking 130 degrees in 90 degree weather. I had to let mine air out for a minute before I unloaded one time due to the fact that I couldn't breathe when I first climbed in. Be very careful putting the pups in the back if you get one.

The windows are removable for a bestop. Both sides and the rear windows come off.

ahh yeah I forgot about that feature... though I'd assume the reason he didn't want to roll up the sides is to keep the pups in... so this would have the same issue... but I am ASSuming so... too bad they don't make mesh side windows

I do like the looks of the besttop with the sides removed more... but i still enjoy my softtopper.
