If anyone was wondering, it's possible to mount a hi-lift jack on All Pro jack mounts with a Softopper. Topper can still fold forward without the jack getting in the way.

Just installed my new softopper yesterday. I couldn't be happier with it! The black actually looks surprisingly good on the speedway blue too.

Is there any reason that I should NOT paint the rails? Considering black so they don't stick out so much when I'm not using the top.

@mauigrown I'm really happy with the blue. I honestly didnt know how I felt about it at first but I've grown to really like it. It stands out that's for sure.

I think that color looks really nice when you start putting black aftermarket parts on it haha.

Used bedliner spray and it turned out pretty decent. Just need new weather stripping. We’ll see how it holds up—I’m sure it’s going to scratch where the brackets attach.

I decided to try out the magnet method instead of putting the Velcro directly on the paint of my truck. I went to home Depot and picked up 3 6-packs of these magnets.
    MVIMG_20190707_185826~2.jpg

I then took the backer off the Velcro strips and put the magnets on the sticky side of the Velcro.
    MVIMG_20190707_190358.jpg

I then took a cotton Terry cloth and some gorilla glue and put it over the magnets and trimmed the cloth around the Velcro.

    MVIMG_20190707_191453~2.jpg

It sticks nicely to the truck. My replacement cover comes tomorrow so I should be able to officially try this out.

Not sure how well it will work. And the magnets may end up sliding. But we will see.

Pretty close to what I did. Except I used a roll of magnetic tape to go the length of the rear window.

went on two camping trips in the past 4 weeks. a dog and 4 people! it's important to play a bit of tetris in the the truck and can get hot under there. one of the best things about the softopper is you can fold it down in less than a minute, load your gear easily by standing up and shuffling stuff around, and then put the softopper back up to protect your gear. so glad i went with this over a hard shell. saves me time and my knees

I love that too. Peel it back. Load. Snap in back on and done. So easy.

My truck up near Idyllwild. Love my cheap awning setup that takes one person about 3 mins to rig up

I orginally bought this: https://amzn.to/2LSEgpB - the smittybilt trail shade. The awning it comes with is too small. But the poles and guy lines are fantastic. So i bought a cheap, compact awning ( here: https://amzn.to/2xE65JW ) and use some ball bungees to mount it to the rack. Super easy to setup. I took a video of it which I'll post later. Everything fits perfect in the canvas bag and I keep that easily accessible in the truck or bed. No need to get super fancy and complicate things. Also now I have a tarp I can use for anything else. You can just get some poles and an awning from anywhere... no need to buy the smittybilt trail shade unless you want it for the poles and bag. Personally, this setup works for us. Now to find a bigger shade that's a trapezoid shape. 60 inches at the side that mounts to the truck and much wider as it goes out would be perfect.

Here's a pic of how basic/easy it is to mount to any roof rack.
