This is correct, I got my ST about 2 yrs ago and it came with a straight bar. I have a DCLB as well.

Thanks for confirming. Wonder why that is.

You don't have any issues with sealing the back flap do you? Haven't even used it yet to know how it holds up to water and dust. I know you can't expect it to be completely water tight, however, I'm just curious if the straight bar makes it more difficult to get a proper seal to the tailgate.

The curved bar aligns with the 3rd Gen Top of the tailgate for a better fit. Not sure if that’ll be the same for the 2nd gen

I never installed anything to keep the bottom of the window secured but don't have any issue with water getting in there. I have thought about adding mag strips to the Velcro but have never gotten around to it. As long as you apply the seam sealer it is really good in the rain, only ever get a little water in the from corners where the front window meets the bead top.

Dust does get in on the trail but still better than having nothing.

Yeah I'm aware which is why I was wondering if there would be issues using a straight bar on the 3rd gen with the curved tailgate.

As an FYI, I have a 3rd gen, but had bought a Softopper with a straight rear bar (as apparently the long beds have straight, not curved).

Makes sense, appreciate the info. I ordered a flexible magnetic strip along with heavy duty Velcro and will be making a custom strip for the rear panel tonight as I didn't want to have strips of Velcro on the paint. Not worried about the Velcro damaging the paint, just didn't want to have Velcro there when the Softopper is down. Also figured having the rear panel magnetized would be easier for getting in and out of the tailgate rather than having to detach the Velcro every time.

Not a problem, that was the same idea that have been thinking about, Velcro definitely would be a pain for opening and closing each time.

Ok, I just had my topper restitched and I have to say Softopper is quick and a pleasure to work with.

Now I'm not sure at $7 bucks that the seam sealer isn't just snake oil, but I coughed up the dough. My question is do I apply it to both the inside and the outside?

Anyone willing to share their ideas for lighting within the Softopper? Don't want it to be permanent for obvious reasons so I'm figuring a quick disconnect somewhere in the bed. I went through about 25 pages of this thread and finally figured I'd just ask instead.

I believe this has a quick-disconnect but I do not have one so cannot comment:

Got mine!! Quick question, I have a slight wrinkle on the driver side, will that go away? Also is it too far forward? I know the instructions said to have it flush with the bed rail towards the front but I had it maybe a quarter to have an inch past it since I thought it looks better with less of a gap

Try to loosen the strap. All 4 of mine are barely snug and I have no creases like that.

Do you know how the wires are routed? Does it follow the frame?

The wires are long enough to allow freedom on routing. I would place the disconnect close to one of the pins...so that you don't forget to disconnect it while removing or collapsing the topper. Not that I've done that.

Was able to pick up a softopper for $400 and the guy threw in a weathertech windshield shade with it. Tested it out in Colorado a few weeks ago. Perfect fit for a dog crate to keep Wylie cool in the afternoons and under cover for storms.
