I've done both. If I don't need it to be 100% waterproof sometimes I just leave out that front window.

Curious for anyone with a softopper and drop in bed liner (first and second gens?), has anyone put the snaps into the bed liner instead of the bed for the rear window?

Thinking this is probably the way to go if I can make it happen. My bed liner only goes over the front bed rail and the tailgate, not the slides.

I did this on my 1st gen with stock plastic bedliner and it’s held up well for the year or so I’ve had the topper.

Did you cut or do anything to the other side of the screw or just screw in and leave as is?

What products are you guys using to treat your softopper? I’m currently using 303 aerospace spray. It’s doing good, just wanna known if there’s a better product out there.

I re-read your original, to clarify you’re asking about the front softopper window/rear truck window snaps right? I put those snaps into the bed liner and I used magnets for the rear softopper window. For the screws I just pre-drilled and then screwed the snaps in until snug. The spot where the screws go is separated enough from the actual bed that you don’t need to do anything else to them, they won’t touch the bed.

That's perfect, thanks. I got some 3m paint protectant film for the tailgate and was planning on doing magnets, figure it will look a lot cleaner.

Has anyone done any fun mods or DIYs with your Softopper? Maybe attachments you’ve added? Just looking for any interesting things to do with these.

I recently purchased a tan softopper used for a good price. Whats the general consensus of a tan softopper on a red truck? I'm thinking it'll look fine but i'm also thinking of looking to trade it straight across for a black one.

Personally, I think the red/tan combo is the best combo. If you comb through the pages here you’ll find some good examples.

Edit: probably important to factor in other aesthetics of your truck as well, however, done right, the red and tan looks great.

These toppers are great. Used mine for a while. Unfortunately now it just hangs on the wall in the garage in a storage boot without use. Probably needs a new home. I’ll vouch for them though.

Added two more clamps today exactly where the two rails come together (doesn’t interfere with the hinge at all), a tailgate seal, and silicone everywhere I could see light coming through.
