I only use mine when i remove the softop. Its nice to have but I rarely remove it. I can see how it would come in handy if you fold the topper while on the truck to put the storage bag on, that way it doesnt come undone in high winds.

I chose to purchase it when I ordered my Softopper. Figured buy it then and have it available to protect my investment. It's cheap enough.

Put it back in today sans front window. I love playing with the different configurations. This may be my new fave.

edit: back window is off too, has been for awhile now.

I just replaced the front with mesh. I agree. Having the front open is the best.

Hmmm. Question. I thought you HAD to run a front window otherwise there was risk of ripping the topper off at highway speeds. Have you run at 65+ mph with the front window off? No issues?

No, but in softoppers installation video, at the end it goes over various driving configurations. One is to have the front window removed.

No mention in written instructions either. Only thing of note is to not leave the back window down while the sides are up, but this seems obvious.

I've had no issues at speeds 65+ with the front & rear windows removed. I've never had just the front removed.

Softopper is offering a group buy through 10/31/19 for a minimum of 10 purchasers. $45.95 off the price of a new top. That's your choice of top color, either 2nd or 3rd gen, short or long bed and delivered to your door with no sales tax outside of CO. Purchase normally through them, notify them you are part of the group buy. I don't have enough posts to list it in the group buy section.

I love this thing. I've had the topper for about a year and the guy I bought it from said he had for about 2 years. No yellowing or cracking.

I just cleaned the back window and it's still super clear. It was getting too dirty and hard to see out of from the driver seat.

I felt inspired this morning. I even clay barred it. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing to do on plastic, I figured "why not".

I just got a Supertop 2 the other day. I followed the instructions to a T, but have to move the whole thing back a bit. The front overlaps on the bed rail by about 1/2" but the back has about a 1/4" gap between the seal and the tailgate, despite me lining everything up the way the instructions said to (unless I missed something).
It rained like hell here this weekend, so that gap allowed a ton of rain to get in. I knew to expect some water, but there was way more than I expected/wanted.
I added Matt Gecko LED bed lights prior to putting the ST on. Glad I did that. It's dark under that sucker, even in daylight.

My supertop 2 just showed up today. Im going to spend tonight and tomorrow getting it installed. Hopefully I dont have any gaps.

I ordered it a few days ago, it was listed as back ordered so I called them. They said mid Nov it would ship... later that day I got a email that it shipped! Then the fedex tracking said tuesday ( I wouldnt be at work where it was being shipped ) then this morning it listed as delivered! sweet!

How'd your installation go? Any gaps? I'm about to go out and try to shuffle mine back a few hairs to close the rear gap.

No real gaps, but I cant get the zippers on the sides to line up. The zipper pulls from the top down, which is dumb since I cant even get to the top of the zipper because of the poles and the flap that covers it. Right now its about 20 degrees out, so the tops not very easy to pull or stretch. Im going to try to bring it in to my old work and park it under the radiant heat to get some stretch out of it.

In the back I did have to unclamp it, pull the sides inward more, then clamp it back down.

EDIT: There are a few thing I think they could of done to this top to make it easier to put up and down.

1 Zippers pull from the bottom up
2 dont make the rear narrower than the front (gets confusing when installing and makes part of the rails overhand the bed sides on the inside)
3 add guides for the straps on the frame (4 inch straps over the top) so they dont flop over the sides of the bars when you are trying to put it up
4 Add pull straps for the rear so you have something to grab onto when pulling the back down to latch it.

What I do like about it is that in the rear, theres not a flap that sits over then end of the bed, it sits flush with the tailgate.

I found the zippers coming from the top annoying. I've got fat hands and getting the tops connected wasn't easy, especially since it was getting dark. But I assume there's a reason they did it that way.
I just moved my whole top back about 1/4" to 3/8" and now it seems a lot better as far as the amount of water coming insai, even though it's now back farther than the instructions said. I also have some old hard cap mounting foam, so I jammed some of that into the larger holes in the framing, hoping to further reduce the tide coming in. However, at the moment I really wish I'd just bought another Leer hard top.
