Im guessing they put them that way so as they vibrate, they dont vibrate down unzipping them. Im going to take one of the zippers apart and see if I can put on some double sided sliders. That way I can zip it from the inside or outside. From the videos ive watched, replacing a zipper slider is pretty easy.

My topper got a hole in it somehow...easy fix just patched it and got seal sealer now leak free. It took a beating during 30mph winds, driving on a highway at 60mph plus downpours last weekend took it like a champ.

Keep adjusting to your liking, give it time in the sun, it'll work out wrinkles.

are yall able to adjust the front height at all? like lower it towards the cab? I think mine sits a tad high and catches more wind than it should. I only had it on with no front and back windows so I haven't been able to play with all the parts yet. I got a used one and needed to replace parts before getting it to 100%.

You can lower overall height with the hinge pins, I have mine in the center, but you can go to the bottom hole. Then when you tighten it up, tighten the front straps first to "pull" it down some. Then do the rear.

2nd gen toppers sit a little high, that's why i went with a 3rd gen topper for my second gen truck. 3rd gen tacomas have taller bedsides, so the toppers are a bit shorter.

You can also scoot the rails towards the tailgate and pull the front tie downs a little tighter, that will bring things down a tad.

I just got mine on a couple days ago. I think it needs another two bedrail clamps, one in the middle of each siderail, so those are currently enroute from Softtopper.

It's just a standard Pelfrey bumper and I built the side armor coming off of it.

Little update on my bestop, Ive since gotten 6 of the 9 zippers zipped. As the days go by, the topper stretches a little more and more so its getting closer to be able to zip the final 3 (back window side zippers and passenger side rear zipper).

I am hoping to get the last 3 zipped up before we get any snow.

Should've got a softopper......I zipped all my zippers the first day I got it.....:playball:

Not sure what this emoji means. I've had a couple drinks and I'm ready to brawl. And by brawl I mean sleep.

I dont put the topper up or down very often, plus its about 30 degrees out right now, so I dont expect it to be easy.... also I am mildly crippled so I have the strength of a 10 year old right now :p

Can anyone recommend a good replacement weather stripping for the rails that get clamped on the bed sides? Mine is starting to look a little eh.
