Found a used third gen shortbed topper for $450 and put it on my bobbed bed. One camping trip was all it took with an open bed. I missed my dry storage.

Good lookin' stuff! A friend said I should post in here, with my storage fix for my rear window.

That said, I have a new Softopper (couple weeks old). also bought the optional rear mesh screen window. I pulled the standard rear plastic window out last weekend and threw in the mesh. I rolled up the plastic in a towel to keep it decent. As everyone that has a soft top jeep knows (I included), knows that the windows are pliable in the heat and stiff when cool or cold. Even brittle with age.

So.... I spent a couple pennies on a pool noodle. Took said pool noodle along with a beach towel and rolled the noodle up a turn and a half in the towel. then laid the window on the towel and rolled it all up. The noodle gives some rigidity as to not let the plastic window to fold in half and get creases in it.

Plan is to get a 4" ID, pvc pipe (next day off) to slide it into. Mount it down one side of the bed. So i can keep it all together in case I need to swap them out on the fly. also gonna get the expandable plugs for said pipe to keep the towel/window inside sealed up.

I got my SofTopper in this week, and got it installed today. Looks pretty good so far. Going to take it out for a camping trip next weekend and shake things out.

I would have been tempted to go tan with the color of your truck but the black tinted windows sets it off. Nicely Done!

Exactly, so we’ll see how long it lasts. Wiring is ran now so it’ll be easy to replace it with another light if it fails on me.

Yep, that’s exactly it. I had a very similar style light like this on my old softopper and it held up great. It was on there up until I sold it.

Yeah I was surprised. Another friend suggested adhering the light to a small strip of steel, and then use some earth magnets on the inside of the topper to secure it. If this falls off, I'll go that route. I'm trying to avoid modifying my topper itself.

Damn that's a good idea the way he mentioned. It's a good thing you can't loose the strip when wheeling, other than it just dangling.

I dig it! Also agree with what your saying about the 3rd brake light.

I have been pondering different ideas as to what to come up with. I have one in me head that I like. now, just have to do it. Question is?... How much do I wanna spend on it.

How's the headroom in the softopper when your sleeping back there? I made a bed platform the same way you've described and threw an old futon mattress on top. It's kinda thick maybe 4-5 inches so I'm curious if procuring a smaller pad to sleep on would make sense. Thanks!
