Let's See Some Softoppers

If he made it a trapezoid shape, with the small end attached to the soft topper, and the wide end with poles it would be pretty cool.

My first post and a Softopper was my first mod/accessory to my '20 Tacoma. Found a used one for $600 on FB. I've never liked shells due to the grandpa look but I love the softopper because the off road look and options to only put it up when needed.

Quick question for those with softoppers. Did i mount it too close to the cab? I like it closer but there's about ¼" between the top bar and third brake light.

 

Unless it’s hitting the light, don’t worry about it. Welcome, and congrats on the purchase.

 

As long as its not hitting the light/cab and you can fold the topper, your fitment is perfect.

 

They just did that to me too. I ordered a couple of replacement zipper pulls (one got jammed on the last camp trip - rather than risk damaging the teeth I used my multitool to snap off the slider, since that's the easiest part to replace). They refunded $7 of the shipping cost. I thought that showed a bit of integrity on their part.

 

Should the rear bar for the 3rd gen long box be straight? It seems like it should be curved because the tailgate curves out. It seems the short box comes curved but are they not the same tailgate? I ask because mine is straight

 

You buy it used? 3rd Gens do come with the curved rear bar

I'll second this my long bed softopper also came with straight bar. I'm the 2nd owner but original owner just bought it beginning of 2020. Their install video on the Tacoma also has a straight bar. What does it look like with the curved bar installed?

Not sure why they alternate between the two. The Tacoma has a curved gate. They probably know something I don't though.

FYI, the curved bar is for sale under their replacement parts section.

 

I have a curved bar someone can have for free if you want. I bought a third gen shortbed for my second gen short bed, so I had to swap bars.
