So I was actually at REI after I got my harness looking for those, and I only found them attached to some other webbing, that was $14 for a 2 pack, scoured the store and asked if they sold them, which they didn't. They don't have them online as singles either. I see these G Hooks on a lot of outdoor gear, but not ever sold in this side as singles. I dunno man! Hole in the market if you ask me.

Found the ones I bought. They were on an end cap by the register. About a year ago. Link:

Dude, those g hooks are legit. Thanks for finding and posting. I was using gorilla tape to hold the old clips together, which has actually worked, surprisingly.

ETA on shipping is end of Feb. :playball:

Edit: you ordered the “large” size correct?

Isn't the softopper webbing 3/4" so that would be about 20mm.

She it. No, just took your word for it, should have gone out and measured. I just requested the change but I think smalls already shipped. I might have some 10mm g hooks in the box of spare parts. Which I’m sure I can use someday.

Crap...:anonymous: so sorry about that. I'd be surprised if they had shipped already though, mine took a few days to get shipping confirmation, and then about 4 weeks of waiting. Hope they're able to make that change for you. If there's enough interest in this mod, I'm willing to look into having a batch manufactured / bulk ordered to get them state side and more readily available.

Speaking of the 3 clips; Has anyone made a simple sunshade by using the 3 female clips off the side of the Softopper along with 3 male clips attached to a tarp?

Softopper recommended not doing something like that. They said the straps are only held in by stitching that was not meant for heavy or high loads and could rip out of the canvas if too much force was applied, like when the wind starts whipping and tugging on a tarp/shade canopy.

There’s just something about your truck that reminds me of something I can’t quite put my finger on...

Have tried to read through as much as possible, so apologies if this is redundant, but is anyone sleeping in the bed with these soft toppers? I have to move into my truck for a few months this summer (covid real estate in CO mtn towns was off the hook and I'm getting kicked out of my rental :(). Having a really difficult time finding a hard shell that I can afford and am definitely considering one of these...but only if you can make it even remotely weather proof. Not worried about cold as I slept in my subie when it was 0 degrees out, just rain/snow and wind :) Admittedly loving the red taco/tan topper look :bananadance: Edit: pic was supposed to be a thumbnail...my apologies for a really big picture of a truck without a topper :notsure:

Short answer is yes! Typically people build a platform of sorts and put an inflatable or memory foam mattress on top. For colder weather you can use a mr. buddy heater and also insulate the Softopper with reflectix since it does not have the insulation back there that your subie had. I would also recommend sealing up the holes in the composite bed and adding tailgate seal all around the tailgate. Hope this helps and sorry to hear about your situation.

    It's Timberland mica.
I'm a sucker for the tan tops on just about any color. I'd say do it!
