Exact scenario for when my unattached front flap went wonky. Two separate times. I attached the 3 snaps in the bed wall. No problems since.

Truly made a difference in the summer (both in GA and CO). Made a huge difference in CO under that intense sun!
I did not notice any help in the winter, but the one time I've been out while below freezing, I had bad floor insulation. That cold floor had ALL of my miserable attention.
But all good for helping with overhead heat.

Yep, truck was new enough I didn't want to drill into the bed wall. That's why it took learning that I had to, before I did.

    Spot on. Nice & easy.

I had just Velcro on my 2016 and never had an issue with it. You could start with that and add the snaps later if needed. Make sure it’s warm out, the bed is clean, and give the adhesive on the Velcro time to set up before using.

I put a 1-1/4" wide strip of Velcro on top of the plastic bedliner for the full width of the front flap. It's going nowhere.

Nope no concern, I believe the topper comes with both velcro and 3 snap screws. I dont recall if the snap screws were self tappers but they are only like a 1/4" long so I had no concerns drilling into the bed. I did that when I installed the topper the first time 2ish years ago havent had a problem since.

As all softopper owners know, once installed you can't see shit out of the rear view. Today I installed the Vantop dashcam/rearview camera and I am super impressed. Installation was pretty easy (I hardwired it to my power tray and the under hood fuse box) and it works amazing. It is better than before I installed the topper. You can pan up and down and adjust the brightness for both cameras using the touchscreen. Im still waiting on the dedicated mount to arrive from China.

Am I crazy? I just look out the rear window and then I see through the rear softopper window. Side mirrors show the rest

Does anyone know if a softop from a 2nd gen extra cab, would fit in a 1st gen extra cab? Found a guy selling his on Craigslist.

Check out the softopper website... Should be able to determine by virtue of dimensions and part numbers I'd think
