It is on all the time, I have had it on for years and work in some 'unfriendly' parts of Los Angeles. I worry more about the Cats or spare tire than the topper.

Mine is on 24/7 I fold it up about once every three weeks for a week or so... more nervous at that point...

but over all... no... not really, then again I have full coverage, so if it does, I'd just order another

Speaking of Full Coverage, would that cover stolen add-ons like a softopper? Just curious because I've heard different stories. I have full coverage through AllState and I have a few add-ons that I would hope were covered incase of an accident or theft. I guess I should contact them to find out for sure

I think the golden rule, is that the item needs to be a permanent fixture on the vehicle. Whether a sod topper qualifies, I know not. Def call your agent if you are concerned.

All depends on your company. I have USAA now and had State Farm before... Both would replace it I'd bet. They may want a picture with it on... But having had my house robbed for $10,000+ I always take pictures now. With that they have no choice. They've replaced a camera and some clothes that were stolen out of my old truck in California. Gotta love military bases being in quality locations

I have added on some accessories to my auto coverage. Geico website is very easy. Just added what custom accessories you have plus the value and they can instant quote what the coverage will cost. I have included my softopper and tube steps for only $4 more!

I have been a lurker for half a yr and finally became part of the soft top club tonight. Bought a slightly used Best Top SuperTop for $400. :D The weather has been kinda chilly here in UT the past few days so when it warms up I'll install it and take pics.

Well sick of stowing my work tools in the cab due to the rain so I fought with the cold canvas this evening.

Total pain in the ass but now when it starts down pouring I don't have to run out to my truck put up my seats and transfer my tools from the bed to the cab. When winter hits it will be amazing being able to load my tools into the bed rather than the cab every morning, this was a good investment :)

Yeah i absolutely love mine as well. Has come in handy numerous times now. I was originally torn between a rooftop tent or a softopper and i'm happy with my decision for the time being. Still has enough room to allow me to camp in the back all while providing a nice dry place to store my things.

So I was finally able to give the softopper the ultimate test, a road trip from windy and stormy Montana to the high elevation and small backroads of Ouray, Colorado, to the Desert in Moab. 20+ mph winds (at least) the entire time.

First a little info on how I installed mine. After a couple attempts to get an answer from softopper (with no avail) I decided not to put the velcro on top of my paint. I asked them if it was safe on paint, when they didn't answer I assumed the worst. I opted instead to place it on top of the tail gate plastic.

The softopper holds up great in normal conditions going 80mph on the highway. I found however that when it gets really windy (30mph+) things can get sketchy quickly.

Head wind - seems to be the best wind direction, nothing moving everything looks good.

Side wind - Made me look in my rear view mirror every 5 seconds. The only thing that happened was a huge gust of wind hit me and the section that lies in between the cab and the bed somehow flapped up and started hitting the window. A quick pull down and re-fasten fixed it but I think I need to find a way to seal both sides instead of just the one in the bed.

wind from behind - surprisingly not bad at all.

Wind (from an angle) coming from behind - This gave me the most trouble. I'm guessing it may have to do with the way I fastened the back section (there is a small gap on both sides of the back where it is tucked up). The bar came unlatched twice, which looks more scarier then it does do any harm, I had to clench my steering wheel for a good 20 minutes before it was safe to pull over. It threw around some wind inside the topper, but nothing ended up happening.

I thought for sure the thing was going to rip off the back of my truck and fly into the cars behind me. The softopper held up though. And even though it caused a bit of stress and anxiety, I am now completely positive there is little that can destroy this thing.

Sand, Rain, Hail, Leaves all blowing into the softopper at sometimes 50mph tornado causing winds. While going 80 on the highway. How it stood up I have no idea.

Taking the topper on and putting it back on is so easy I laughed. I prefer to roll with the sides and back up, my dog loves it back there. It use to be way too hot but now he has all the shade he needs.

I bet you could camp in it, I preferred to set up a nice tent.

Security freaked me out. However I own a double cab so I just stored the important things in the backseats and left the rest in the topper. Parked in the city and never had any problems.

Rating 9/10. Buy one! These things are tough as nails.

Just bought my Tacoma a three months ago. Added the Softopper last week. One of the best additions to my rig. We camped in it the day after I installed it. Workedout great with a twin mattress. I ride a little MX and gives me great versatility in everything we do. Making its first trip to Colorado in a few weeks. Breckenridge and Buena Vista! This is my first Tacoma and we love it.
