I learned the hard way not to open the snaps or sides when the weather is cold and you're camping.

I have people ask about the Softopper all the time. I pretty much leave mine up all the time and try not to mess with it. I zip out the rear window/screen all the time, but that's it. They are a bear to fold in the cold for sure.

The tent extender works well for a 5 ft bed, but I made my own pvc frame for it that I find easier to set up and sturdier than the extension poles included.

I've camped all over in the bed with the topper.

I picked tan because I love the drier western locations, figuring it would be cooler.

Thanks, appreciated. I've had the truck since new and until very recently had a work car that I could use all the time. I mostly have used for my cross-country adventures from NJ, still only adding up to 47k miles so far.
Anyway, sadly the front hitch is Mobtown Offroad. I believe they are no longer around. It's a shame, it's a nice design that bolts right to the end of the frame. I have a quick connect popping out of the grill and another cable that reaches to the rear hitch if needed. I've used the front but never needed the rear (yet). I just keep the winch in a cradle inside the truck cab.

I have the same set-up (front receiver, winch in cradle, QD for power, and extension cord for rear receiver). My front hitch is from Curt and bolted right to the end of the frame.

I've owned my Softopper for a couple years now and really enjoy it. Yesterday, I went to open the rear clear window and the vinyl cracked, forming an 8" crack. I understand that plastic/vinyl is more brittle in cold winter temperatures, but was surprised that it cracked so easily, seeing as I wasn't attempting to roll the window - simply fold it onto the roof to access the bed.

I've reached out to Softopper to see if they can help ease the cost of a replacement... I'm shocked at how little it took to split the vinyl.

Does anyone use a rear-facing dashcam with these? Where do you mount it? Mine is still inside the cab but practically useless during the day because it's dark in the bed and bright outside. Exposure and all that. I was contemplating printing a holder for it and some of the topper bars.

I ordered one and they marked it as shipped within a few hours. So they just created a label.. That's a little sketchy. I'm guessing they're doing this so they can mark it complete with PayPal.

Companies should only charge your credit card once they have shipped the product, at least this is my understanding per the federal trade commission laws. I'd watch to see if there is tracking information in a few days.

They did give me a tracking number with FedEx. But there has been zero activity on the tracking number since it's creation. FedEx put an estimated delivery date of 1/13 but that's obviously not going to happen given that it's still at the "Shipment information sent to FedEx" stage, meaning, only the label has been created. The definitely charged my card though.

they will mark it shipped almost immediately and you’ll get a tracking number that shows a delivery date. Then a few days later they still haven’t given it to FedEx and FedEx will update it to pending where it will sit for 4-5 weeks and then finally ship.

One should always pay for products they ordered. That being said products ordered should always be received.
