I get plus+5 mpg with the softopper on

Lol. I removed my rear window panel and my MPG plummeted (13 mpg highway driving from 17...) And am looking into solid or mesh panel for the winter and just wanted to get feedback from the community on how efficient the mesh panel is. Since the rear of softopper apparently sucks in the air

 

Is this a serious post? I might have to put mine back on lol

 

I never noticed a difference in MPG between having the rear window down or rolled up, so I imagine there'd be no difference between the window and the mesh. (Particularly since it's at the rear of the vehicle.)

 

For 5 years I've run with the back window installed all winter and without the back window all summer and have never noticed any change in mpg.

Has anyone ran a good beed of sealant along the rails, either on the outside or inside, where they meet the truck red rails to seal it better from water?

Water is my number 1 concern about the soft topper. Dust is manageable IMHO, but getting stuff wet is unacceptable.


TLDR: what other tips and tricks have other done to seal out water?

 

Picked up a used bestop, would have preferred a softopper not a fan of the rear bar and track system but price was to good to pass up

 

Is there a lot to add the third light?

 

Looks great. I have a silver truck as well and am looking at the black topper... Looks solid
