    No inspections..lucky haha
There’s a proposed bill at the moment to get rid of ours. However, the catch is that if you were to be pulled over and the officer seems the vehicle unsafe, your vehicle gets towed on the spot.
They haven’t mentioned what details are on that so it could be silly stuff (tint, tires etc..), or could be something that actually makes sense

I mounted mine using magnets, so nothing permanent. The lights are cheap enough that I've replaced it a couple times now as it shows its age. I use a quick disconnect to make it easy to remove the topper (never happens) or replace the light.

Looks like you also have the Heavy Metal Off-road bars? I’ve been looking at them for over my topper. If those are HMO bars, how do you like them? Is it easy to attach things to them using the welded tabs?

They are the HMO bars. They're cool. I bought steel plates and attached those to the welded tabs. Everything mounts onto those plates.

I bought some heavy bar clamps and am currently using them for ski racks on top.

Can anyone give me a measurement of the narrowest point between the hoops supporting a Softopper?

Interested in one of these, and wondering if a Loadwarrior which is about 39" wide would interfere with opening/closing the top if the rack sat on bars at the height of the bed-rails (think of those KRB Voodoo bars that mounted to the bed-cleats).

I see the top once folded also bulks a bit with the material bunched up, but presume it can be folded down normally if the Loadwarrior sits far enough towards the back of the bed.

I take it from the pictures that the center hoop that pivots more of less in the middle is the narrowest point.

    Any measurements appreciated!

I’ll try get some tonight unless someone beats me to it

    Edit:
With the softtopper, I have my upTOP rack pretty much cab height. I drop the topper off the pins and into the bed (lowering it more than a few inches) and then collapse it

I added pics of my brake light - but if you look at the first pic you can see where the pivot mount is and how much the topper can drop into the bed so I can gain clearance to collapse it. Hope this helps. Im at work for a while more

19.5” for the middle hoops. 20.25” center to center of each hoop

Did you run the wires from the light through the Velcro up top? I think I am going to go this route. I want to avoid making any holes on my topper.

Exactly. The wire is tapped off my driver's side tail light, exiting the bed cubby. It follows the most rearward bar of the topper exiting the velcro for the rear flap. I attached the light to a strip of stainless steel bar, and use neodymium magnets on the inside of the topper to hold it in place. No holes or damage of any kind. It has never moved and I do a fair amount of wheeling.

Anyone have pictures of a black Tacoma with Bronze wheels and a tan soft topper? Thinking about going that route. May just play it safe with black.:help:

Previously ran velcro on the tailgate but decided to try magnets instead after my tailgate got stolen. Placed some 3M clear vinyl on the edge of the tailgate to protect the paint and used 1.5” velcro to hold 3 3” x 1/2” x 1/4” magnets. Does the job well and is a lot cleaner compared to having the velcro on the tailgate!

How well do these hold up in the snow. Can the supports carry the weight? Does the topper leak when the snow melts?

    Thanks in advance!

I have a Fas-Top soft topper on my truck.
No issues with over a foot of snow on top, I leave my truck outside and last storm we had 18"
The only time/place it leaks is at the corners, where the topper meets the bed, in heavy rain or going through a car wash.

Similar to ssd2k2, my Softopper does pretty well in the snow and rain. No leaks through the seams. Again, the corners can and do leak due to the gap’s between the bed cap and the topper. I also seem to have a larger gap than most between the bed and the topper, so I may see it a little more frequently than others. I have heard of people making foam “plugs” to wedge into the gaps with good results.

Just finished making a foam bed for my truck. One of the big reasons I picked up my Softopper was to be able to camp out of my truck. However I didn’t want to build a fixed sleeping position in the back of the truck like a lot of the hard shell campers do. I really enjoy being able to use my truck bed at anytime, maintaining the versatility of the truck. Because of this I settled on modifying a tri-fold foam mattress that would be easy and quick to set up and tear down. More specifically I bought the 4” thick waterproof Milliard full sized mattress off of Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/Milliard-Premium-Mattress-Waterproof-Washable/dp/B09SGPPCL9?th=1

A little side note, the site says “memory foam” but it is 1” memory foam laid over 3” of foam.

After it arrived, I removed 2 of the foam pads from the water proof cover. For both of these pads I removed the end seam so I could pull the foam out of their protective covers. From there I measured out my wheel wells and marked these measurements out on the foam pads. I was able to use a utility knife to cut the foam pads down to the correct size.

    B751BD3D-88D7-4E4B-86EF-DAF0AA606099.jpg

To test the fitment after my alteration, I slid the foam pads back into their protective covers, and then into their respective pockets within the waterproof cover.

    7BFD3348-582A-43F1-9276-0E82633F8036.jpg

I was initially concerned with the excess waterproof cover around the altered pads. After I set the mattress in the bed, I was able to tuck the excess cover between the mattress and the truck bed without any major bunching.

    913A29FF-5398-4B38-8EBC-BC554D8BB1CE.jpg 97CFFCB2-7379-415A-BD05-B8790375CD05.jpg 99C845F8-18FB-4755-8F65-684A98D5F62E.jpg

I’m pretty excited with how this turned out, and can’t wait to try it out. In addition to having a bed to sleep on in the truck, I also saved the foam I cut off and can still use the full mattress pad in the house for guests or my kid.
