Does anyone know if the Rough Country bed molle panels interfere with the collapsing down of the Softopper? Or if there is a bedside molle system that works well with it?

These aren't Rough Country - you may have better luck with that brand; they look like they might give more width for the Softopper - but I would expect interference.

Is there any model number stitching or tag on the softopper that can verify the model vehicle the topper was designed for? This could be helpful when buying second hand.

My experience buying secondhand, I had to contact softopper. They asked me for dimensions, and sent me a couple of rear panels to try (what I was looking to buy). Then based on the rear panel that fit, they were able to determine my model. Short answer, my topper didn’t have any observable stitching or tags stating which model it was. But my topper also came with the old “metal clasps” to roll the topper panels up, instead of the plastic clips they use now.

It is an obvious flaw that you can’t tell which truck it fits. You mostly just have to trust the previous owner about what vehicle they had.

A tan one in LA which looks great on the white Tacomas, IMO.

For Softoppers you can interchange these between 2nd and 3rd gens.

Thanks for the cross promo. I need this thing out of my garage. Let me know of if you're interested. You will need a new back panel and back bar.

    Just some stuff...
Why are you “bumping” this? Why not start a “want to buy” ad?

Moving up north to the PNW next week, not at 50 posts yet. Hoping someone happens to have one they're looking to sell.

Might be worth checking this one out. I bought mine off a guy in San Diego (I live in OR) and shipping wasn’t terrible.
Even if shipping the used one is $100-150, new softoppers for 6ft beds are $1000 with shipping.

edit: the guy posting for sale says he’s willing to ship.

There’s a BST Softopper thread on here somewhere. Just an FYI all the people looking to buy lately, you may have some luck in there.

What was your reasoning of making the switch? I’m looking into possibly selling my softtopper and purchasing a GFC topper… just trying to see pros and cons

I’m not sure that theres any one to avoid but Softopper seems to be the most popular by quite a large margin.

I loved the gfc but I camp at high altitude in mountain areas so the 4cylinder wasn’t cutting it eventually I want to put one on my 5.7 tundra
