Same here. Went through some red mud a month ago and it will not come out. Had the nice lady at Autozone walk out in the parking lot and try a handful of products on it to no avail.
    :annoyed:

p.s. awesome name for your truck; called my old KJ the same haha

I found a great way to clean the topper. I got some convertible top cleaner and it takes mud right off. I think it was called 303 or something?

That's what @steelhd suggested above as well. I'll have to look into that, as I haven't tried that yet.

The 303 stuff worked really well when I worked it in with a foam paint brush

The same shit everyone else has.
Pressure washer at the car wash, then scrub brush and dish soap at home to clean the shit outta it.

Then saturate it with 303. Once you get enough 303 on it, no dirt will stick.

FYI...replaced one of my rear cinch straps after one of my buddies "man-handled" it while we were camping last weekend. Spooled up the ST website and ordered a replacement part...ordered on Tuesday, received on Friday.

First thing I noticed...straps and buckles are much beefier:

    237BF45C-0754-4170-B1CA-263245529354_34ecda820238bf650c88ed7576f214144b05f5be.jpg

Also, ST included a nice beefy stainless self tapping screw to replace the pop rivet (also included new pop rivets if I wanted to go retro) that I installed...because who carries a pop rivet tool nowadays...but I always have a Capt. Phillips somewhere in my rig. :headbang:

All this Softopper joy for the mere entry fee of $6...so George and Abraham can party quietly in the back of my taut truck bed.

    Win.

For someone who is about to go from shell to soft topper, can I get some opinions on advantages /disadvantages of a softtopper? Thanks.

    advantages...
    • lighter, easier to store
    • full access to your bed in under a minute.
    • roll up sides and nap during day. Plenty of airflow and shade. Way cooler than inside a hard shell

disadvantages. Not as secure and can't put stuff on top.

Number one reason for me: You won't blow a grape taking the Soft topper off!

Second reason, it goes on and off fast!

I need to remove my rigid cap several times a year. Finding help was not happening at a short notice and the jury rigged hoist I had worked great but took too much time.

Security is not an issue to me. If some one wants my shit, they can go nuts! Rigid or soft caps or locked cabs are not a deterrent to thieves. I would rather they would unsnap the cap and grab what they want vs. breaking a window and just causing all sort of damage.

(I'm not really a member of this club. I have one on my 2nd gen Tundra, so I consider myself an ad hock member.

I do want one for me Tacoma, but I don't know if I can justify it. I love the looks, but that is not enough of a reason for me to have one on the Tacoma. If a used one pops up in the area, I might grab it. I dunno.

Personally I would add the softness of the rear window. All topper rear windows quickly get dusty but you can't just dry wipe the vinyl without scratching it. Easily solved by carrying a feather duster though. .

The same shit everyone else has.
Pros - Easy up/down. Looks better than a traditional pap cap.

Cons - Not secure and not water proof.

Have you had problems with water getting in? The only time I have had any problem was when spraying a house or pressure want up and into the rear corners. Pretty easy to avoid.

When I wash it it leaks around the windows/zippers. Same goes for heavy rain storms. Its fine during normal rains and shit.
