    Yep.
Nice find Bill!! If you don't mind, what was the price tag, roughly? I'm always curious.

Picked up my 09' manual 4x4 with 140k from a dealer (regret) for 10k earlier this year.

$16k. trade in at a ford dealership about 50 miles from my house. the toyota dealership that sold it new was literally across the highway.
plans are for intermittent wiper switch and tailgate camera since its wired for one.

    The rack looks awesome!

How's the spare mounted? Seems like it might be a little rough on you during R&R.

The stock spare tire hoist is bolted to a mount on the rack, so it hoists up just the same. You cant see anything out the back window with it like that though. Im not sure what you mean by it might be a little rough on me?

    Ah, ok
I was thinking you would have to hold it up while trying to secure it or let it down. That would be hard to do :militarypress:

Hey everyone, new the forums, and Tacoma ownership generally. I'l start by saying that these forums have been a tremendous help over the last two weeks as I've recently inherited a 2014 Auto Transmission Base Regular Cab. No 4x4, no cruise control, no power windows, 9k miles. Ha. My stepfather purchased the truck new to deal with yard work and help some friend of his on their ranch while he eased himself into early retirement. He ordered it from the dealer with the fewest options possible, and has now (of course) decided he in fact wants a more heavy duty truck now that he and my mom have retired to a snowy little town in the Columbia River Gorge.

So anyways, I'd been looking for a new beater as I myself make the transition from the Bay Area back up the PNW. I wanted something I didn't have to worry too much about and could be both a fun summer cruiser and capable winter beater. I don't do any "off roading," but I do plenty of car camping, skiing, and general exploring in less than ideal conditions. My current daily driver (which is staying in SF) is a Honda Element AWD, a totally great and versatile little machine. Anyways, I was looking at Geo Trackers, old Subarus, etc. and this bare bones Tacoma lands in my lap. So, not one to turn down a generous gift, I decided to run with it.

After pouring through these forums the last couple weeks, I settled on Softopper. Order came within the week, had it on the afternoon it arrived. De-badged it and got the old school lettering applied today. I'll probably throw on some black steelies to further add to the "cheap 80's throwback beater truck" vibe. I'm also really interested in the bed storage system from Decked. Any other folks waiting for those?

Though I've never owned a Tacoma, I grew up with Landcruisers. My dad (not my step-dad who just gave me this Tacoma... I've got a very sprawling family, ha) has a '67 Landcruiser Pickup; he bought it in '72. He owned every successive generation of FJ's through the late 80's. We're also an old VW family, and currently have (between my dad, brother and stepmom) two mid-80's Vanagons and a '66 Beetle. I used to drive a Thing as my daily. Anyway, excited to learn about and enjoy my new toy.

So, long story I know, but just wanted to say thanks to everyone for so much info, and introduce myself.

That's not too bad, Tacomas are worth their weight in gold on the northern california coast... great hill trucks for growing weed.

I bought this '13 regular cab with 19K miles in April. It's a 4WD with auto. trans. My 16 year old daughter drives it.

Looks great! I love regular cabs with camper shells. They just have a “mountain exploration” look about em lol

My 2013 4x4. Debating on 5100s @.85 or 1.75 , stock rear for a level look, and suggestions? Don’t mind having it a little nose high.
