I put a Canopy Camper on by myself, single-handedly (after a friend lifted the top portion of the camper onto the bed of my truck with a forklift).

    It's definitely doable.

Has anyone figured out how to unlock the the back window locks (or any of the locks from the inside) if you want to sleep inside in the bed of your truck? There doesn't seem to be a solution that I have found to date.

Check out how GFC does their rear topper locks. You might be able to fab up something similar for the Alucab.

Found this helpful too for anyone looking for a good video on sealing things up on the bed. I just ordered a contour through Mule Expedition outfitters in Oregon . Excited, but have to just wait and be patient now lol .

just got my contour installed this morning. took about 4 hours from drop off to drive away.

initial thoughts after driving it for an hour, the rear view isn't bad. i drove for a month with no rear view mirror since my tent was in the way. with the contour on, its like the back seat head rests are up and you lose some visibility on the top end (where the roof of the canopy is).

I heard a little tapping under the footwell. im guessing one of the wires needs to be zip tied or something. i'll check later since i just got to work and dont wanna roll around on the ground looking for a wire.

there isn't as much space on the bed sides to stand on compared to some other pictures i saw floating around here. i did install the total chaos bed stiffeners last night, so maybe there shouldn't be that much space?

the lip hangs over the tailgate a little more than i thought, but its contoured to fit it real nice with a gasket there.

the three position switch in the canopy is only on and off? whats the point of the third position then?

either way, im excited to use this through the winter. i'll buy some of those covers for peace of mind in the winter and i like the look.

It should be a low and high brightness
Or at least that’s how I understood it.

For anyone interested, this video covers some of the more common/easy to get to places dust and water can get into your camper, but it is far from exhaustive. It'll do a good job, but if you want it more water/dust proof then you can do more to seal it better.

Ever wonder what happens to your Alucab & RTT when someone runs a red light @ 120km/h and you hit corner to corner?

    Screenshot_20231025-114720.png
A bit hard to see in this photo, but the canopy and tent ended up about 100' down the road from where the initial impact occurred.
    PXL_20231031_161255497.jpg

Failure point (not surprisingly) is where the single bolthead pulled through the aluminum T track inside of the canopy on each stainless bracket that attached to the bed T rail of the tacoma.

Decent concussion and had some whiplash. Was home from the hospital that day. Back @ work a couple of weeks later. Thanks for asking.

And yeah from what I could tell/remember seeing @ the salvage yard is all of the brackets stayed in one (albeit twisted) piece. It was the aluminum T slot rail inside the Alucab that gave way before the brackets, hardware, or t slot rail inside the bed.

Had given some thought about what would happen in the event of am impact (before the accident when installing it) and figured that the T slot rail inside the truck box would fail first as it's anchored into the composite plastic bed.

Large Wood Box 2.0 to replace the too-small Pelican iM3220 I have on the roof rack currently.
