Just installed last night. This thing is built like a tank!680302BE-5032-4918-AFE8-87B7D83FFB7E.jpg 457E020C-E5F9-4321-8A53-0B13A47C250C.jpg

I think many have beefed up the rear suspension for the additional weight with the HD OME Dakars or Dobinson's heavy duty leaf options. For those that don't want a lot of lift, you can always use Firestone airbags too, but that comes with it's own set of extra complications in my opinion. I think it really depends though on whether you plan to seriously build out your camper (water tanks, lots of structure inside, etc.) and how you use it (wheeling, need extra lift) etc. I was planning my suspension around my Drifter w/ a full build out and the ACCC weight is going to be very similar to that, so I am using Deaver Stage III Expedition rear leafs that are rated for a bed weight of 700-1000 lbs. and still maintaining a 2" lift. They are their "off the shelf option," but you can also get custom spring packs made exactly to what your final weight is as well. I have been doing weight calculations and it just adds up real quick, even if your not building out the camper.

This looks great. Just got a DCLB which I think yours is too. Debating between this and RSI but I think you said on other thread that these side doors are longer? Also can you open the back door from inside and do you know if you can get windows on the side. Thanks so much. More photos appreciated Mark

Here’s my setup I’ve had for a couple years. Alu Cab canopy with an Autohome Maggiolina extreme. Also have an ARB awning.

Protip for the Alu Cab owners: add one of these low profile trailer vents to the roof to act as a positive pressure vent. I get zero dust in the back now.

I’ll have to check on opening from the inside, but I don’t think you would be able to close it and latch it from the inside. You can order them with windows but it will probably be quite a bit longer lead time 99850F18-2938-44B7-996D-DA782E26BB30.jpg

Thanks for that. Now that I see you have a prinsu also, another question. If you added the prinsu (or other backrack) to the alu-cab, would it be roughly level with the prinsu top rack? I want to put one kayak mount on the front rack and one on the topper rack and don't want too much of a height difference which would be even more important if I was carrying say 20 foot length of rebar or lumber.

I think it would be very close. We always put two kayaks side by side on our Prinsu!

Dumb question of the week, existing Alu-Cab owners:

I bought mine used and need to get my 3rd Brake Light wired up. Did the original install just tap from the tail lights and run up just inside the bed? And does anyone know by chance what Amazon two-wire quick disconnect plug fits the Alu-Cab one?

    Thanks

I just tapped into my tail light. Mine came with bare wires not a quick disconnect so that was probably added by the previous owner. You can just snip off the quick connect currently on there and add your own.

I do not think the canopy’s or campers come with a plug. Just wires.

If you have a third Gen Tacoma you should be good following my directions here on the go fast camper forum. Only you’ll likely not have these wiring splices. You’ll have to source your own if you choose to not cut the wires.

I currently have a RLD canopy after owning a Alu-Cub. Moved on from the Alu-Cab because of some quality issues. The RLD is definitely built better. And the newly available RSI caps would also probably be a better choice than an Alu-Cab. Not hating on them though. They are okay. They just aren’t the only game in town anymore and there are better options out there now. Camp King even has a new topper for the TACOMA. Good time to buy as there are a lot of choices out there where we’re not stuck with the cheap fiberglass crap anymore.

Installed mine last Monday, and we have had some crazy rain where I am at. Checked it after each big rain event and didn't see any leaks at all.

Did you do any additional sealing when you did the install?

    That is to say:
    • Pulled bedside caps and apply silicone underneath
    • What did you do for the gap at the front of the bed between the center piece and the sides
    • anything else?
Also how is the wiring for the 3rd brake light and the interior light routed? I'm assuming it's two separate wires but routed to the same side of the door, mine is in transit but I ordered deutsch DTM connectors assuming I could consolidate into a single 4 position connector.
