    Thanks in Advance

Bought a bunch of large Maxpedition zipper pulls. Just need it to stop raining so I can open the tent up and swap all 26 of those….

I’m sure it’s been asked on here before. But does anyone know what brand and size gas struts to use to increase the lifting capability of the tent on a canopy camper. I carry a few surfboards and some other stuff up there.
    thanks so much!

    I do not know, nor have I heard of anyone upgrading the (4) upper tent struts, but straight from OK4WD, here are the PN's for the OEM struts they install on the campers;

    The struts are x2 ALUS-GS-800-400N and x2 ALUS-GS-1000-500N.

I would assume they are 800mm and 1000mm in length, and 400N and 500N in strength, respectively. The struts split the workload pretty evenly it appears, so keep the length the same and bump up by 100N per strut.

For anyone interested, these are not listed on their site, but they do have them in stock, ready to ship. Email their CS with the PN's above and they can have em to you quickly.

Looking to see if anyone has had this issue of the roof seams leaking. Every time it rains light or hard I get water from the seams on the roof.

I always ensure the tent is properly closed and nothing is sticking out to interfere with the seal, but still everytime water makes it in.

I’m currently trying to use Flex Seal tape at the seams to try and see if it helps, you can see it at the very front along the seams

but I need to figure something better out that will keep water completely out. Tired of coming back to a wet bed when it rains

Greetings all. We're currently outfitting an access cab with a modcap. We have the modcap on there with the flat roof and are waiting for the family tent to come in. Meanwhile, we've been installing necessary modifications at light speed. We decided to get the alucab kitchen setup for the rear swingout door. It's a slick setup!

    Here's our build thread : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/landcruiser-guy-trying-to-outfit-wifes-tacoma.848157/

Adding the tape down where you have it is the wrong location IMO. Based on how the roof is constructed, adding tape there won't be effective.

You need to look to the outside of the roof, on the top/front. Are there any discrepancies up there? Show me more pictures of the outside setup of your camper, i.e. the roof and front headwall between camper and cab.

The camper definitely shouldn't leak (mine doesn't, at all). Did you buy this camper new? Or used? I'd contact OK4WD Customer Service if you can't see anything obvious outside. They have always been helpful to me.

Thanks so much for a response. I bought the Alu Cab + truck used, so it’s possible some seals are just going bad maybe.

The solar panels are mounted with sikaflex so no holes, and the wires are not connected to anything just yet.

I have done Flex Seal on the outer portion and on the outer tent canvas, it hasn’t rained yet since this. But it’s probably about to, so will see if this fixes the issues.

if I can’t figure it out I may have to go up to OK4WD I’m only 4hrs away and wouldn’t mind the adventure.

Do you get water inside while driving in rain? Just when the camper is open? All the time regardless of parked/driving, opened/closed? Just trying to narrow down the symptoms.

I've had mine for 5 years now and not seen any leakage myself, even with it parked outside 24/7. Your picture in post 1347 sure looks like a lot of leakage. My first area I'd check would be the seams on the roof where the diamond tread panel is bonded to the perimeter frame. If it were to leak there I could see how water could be making it to the interior on the tent portion as the tent fabric is secured to the outside of that "down-turned" seam on the underside of the roof. Otherwise, if those rivets or bulb seal of the clamshell was leaking, or the roof track bolts, I wouldn't expect that water to be making it inside through the tent walls, as all of those penetration points are through the roof outside of the tent interior area itself.

@T4RCas0369, these are good questions above. Any responses?

I'm at over 3 years on mine, and even driving headlong into hours long heavy rain my camper interior is as dry as usual.

The integrity of the interior powder coating in the PASS and DR photos looks really bad IMO. Likely indicative of your overall problem here.

If you look at your original photo of the wet bed, and then the front of the Alu-Cab, it does appear to me like the wetness corresponds to the (4) brackets used to secure the front of the lid to the camper. I would check those next.

I am upgrading a different part of my camper, and Alu-Cab instructions tells me to Sikaflex those types of brackets to the camper frame upon reinstallation. I'd undo one at a time and reseal them completely.

This is good info to have for any one of us in the future. I have slowly noticed some of my Sikaflex starting to twist and pull away in certain spots as the years go by.

Thanks for all the great points highlighted.

I definitely noticed it coming in more when driving; the powder coating across the entire cab has seen better days. The seams at the diamond tread panel seem to be okay. The hinges' unbolting and resealing suggestion is great, and I will get that done as soon as this winter storm passes. The other thought I had was the rivets themselves, if maybe they're degrading, and I may cover them with some sealant as another precaution.

I currently have my RTT on the standard height feet but hate that gap it has and have been thinking about going with the low profile feet.

Interested to hear how this setup has been so far? Any flexing? Did you have to remove the fin antenna? Pic for reference

It’s been great. I did add two more cross bars, as I was getting a lot of deflection on the front one. But your tent is half the weight of mine so it wouldn’t be an issue for you. Still have the shark fin!

Just keep throwin' money at it.
Alu-cab explorer question, has anyone replaced the rear glass on the hatch? I am looking at an Explorer locally, but the rear glass is cracked. I found a replacement glass section, but it won't be here for another month, so I have some time to learn.

Update: Alu-Cab sent over the following in case anyone is looking for info.

"You should be able to place the outer seal back in place and then work the glass into place within the seal with a bit of soapy water, then add the middle layer rubber back into place."
