I’m not on stock suspension or tire size and am measuring right at 89” ground to top of closed camper. Hope this helps.

I didn't even realize the Alu-Cab would be coming with interior lights until it showed up. I'm going to be tapping the bed light harness on the drivers side (PT857-35200-AB) as it's standalone and cheap if I ever wanted to completely reverse the install.

For the brake light I've got the 3-pin connectors needed to make a Y-harness between the body harness and the taillight bulb socket on the passenger side.

I've got some left over 22759-44-18-9/0 wire (i.e. 18 gauge) that I'll be using, I know that the current needs of all of this is low but I decided to use the bed power socket and a bench supply to see what the current draw really was.

I think you said you used the low profile mounting bars to attach the tent to the cap, correct?

I’m really wondering how much clearance is there between the tent and the truck cab?

I'm going to be moving over a James Baroud Grand Raid Evo XXL over from my first gen to the third gen in a few days. The guys at OK4WD suggested the regular high profile 40mm tall to accommodate the mounts. I will be using Frontr Runner "Hard Shell Tent Mounting Brackets" as the hardware that came with the Baroud won't work with the wide Alu-Cab load bars.

The Alu-Cab low profile mounts only have about 1/2" of clearance underneath the bar, basically the height of the channel.

I also want a little bit of clearance as the grand raid is huge and will overhang the cab a fair amount and I don't want it to interfere with a future cab mounted roof rack / tray. That being said once it's all in I may order the low profile brackets if I think it will work, lower is better.

Does anyone that lives in an area that gets snow have issues with snow accumulation between the rear window on the truck and the front window on the Alu-cab?

I’m running the baroud grand raid xxl on my alucab explorer/low profile bars, also used the front runner mount kit.

I swapped the front runner m8 carriage bolts out for 5/16” x 1-3/4” carriage bolts.

With this length I was able to mount to the low profile bars and I’ve got 1/8” clearance between the tips of the fasteners and the canopy roof.

you have to mount the bars to the tent then bolt the assembly to the canopy tracks. A long, thin 13mm box wrench is clutch for the track bolts.

PM me if you have questions.

Whoa! I may have to buy the low profile brackets then! On my first gen long bed Ive got like a foot of overhang over the cab, you don't seem to have as much. Could swear the long beds are about the same length between generations but perhaps that was a bad assumption.

I’ll take some side pics later today and post them so you can see how I’ve got mine situated. I’ve got a bit of overhang both fore & aft of the canopy,

low profile is the way to go IMO, tent gap is wack.

Tell me about it, you should see what our first gen has on it: Rhino Rack HD bars. It's like 3-4 inches underneath there, so big we stash our shoes underneath the tent overnight!

I was just looking and I think the shark fin might be another reason to stick with the high profile. My wife likes to use the Yeti as a step to get in from the rear with the tailgate down so we've got it pretty far forward to accommodate that.

The only reason to no go low-pro would be a tent large enough to contact the shark fin antenna (something I’m trying to sort out with a roofnest falcon).

Nice weather for January for the trip this weekend but the 4 hour drive home was rain to freezing rain to snow. Bone dry inside. Gotta love it.

Is it possible to switch out the latches on an alucab canopy? I have the older ones that lock up in the cold and when dusty.

    :annoyed:
I just installed all 6, but the stack height of the covers makes the latches difficult to latch, and you still get a bit of water ingress which can still freeze and jam—esp during the spring freeze thaw cycles. It’s funny, the latches are made by Swedish company, you’d think they’d work better. I’m still on the hunt for a replacement latch. I’ll keep you all posted :annoyed:

Do you have the older style latches like me or the ones in the latch cover photo? Ok4wd has newer style latches on the way but no eta or price yet

I sprayed some 3-IN-ONE Dry Lock Lube in the latches beginning of winter season around here and have had no problems yet and have not had to re apply yet either. Might give it a try and see if it helps you out.
