super interesting. I hope there is a solution similar to GFC that we can implement on the Alu-cab Conture.

No— you cannot open it from the inside when the latch is closed. You can remove the latch in an emergency if you have the correct sized socket (8mm, I think)

I installed these central lock adapters wired into the tailgate pop lock. They also have a spring plunger that opens the latches from the inside.

    Thanks!

I was thinking about replicating just the spring plunger pin using a bracket. But I’d really like to adapt GFCs solution.

Do your Canopy Locks actually lock the latch? I didn’t think they did. Or do they just close and open the latch?

You have to close the latch the actuators lock them with your oem keyfob. I did not use their controller. I only bought the set for the rear and wired them into the tailgate pop lock.

ExploreBackcountry— so if you’re inside the topper and you pull it closed, how do you latch it?

I push on the plastic nut cap and latch them. I ordered some m6 coupling nuts to to extend them to make it easier. Should know in a few days if it pans out to be easier.

This DID NOT work. The gas strut on the rear is at an angle limiting the space needed.

Hey ExploreBackcountry..Please consider sending me dimensions for the Canopy Locks bracket (see attachment). I'll try to bend up a custom bracket for release pin only and share with the community. No hurry. Thanks.

You won’t need a bent bracket or a pin that long since you won’t need to clear the actuators.

Understood. It’ll be much smaller. I’d like to simply adapt the original specs

Also-- the release pin looks off-center. Is that necessary or is it avoiding the actuator parts?

You will need to base the pin location off of where you drill your hole. The pin included has a flat on one side, you won’t need a flat (no actuator).

I went this route because I don’t want to have to use a key on the rear hatch.
I will be doing a pin opener only mod on the side hatches.

Got it. I was just wondering if there was any non-actuator reason for placing the pin off-center. I can't see any reason to do so.

And thank you for helping. The need for an internal release seems like a non-brainer.

As it turns out the large Alucab large spacers are the perfect size to “latch” the rear hatch from the inside.
