    well derp i know that but do you draw your outline/picture and scrape away at the outer layers? how do you actually carve it out without cutting all the way through

    You scrape away to what depth you need for your pattern. A lot of times, depending on what I'm working on, I use a cordless Dremel with a open end mill bit, to remove as little or as much as I want.
