How was this thread not a thing?

Please post your truck (along with tire/wheel specs if possible) if you're still running your mud flaps and if it's not OEM, feel free to say what it is!

Goal of the thread is to get an idea of the biggest tire combo we can go without rubbing the flap, or what can be done to mitigate it WITHOUT taking it off...

P.S. Yeah, yeah,"not a real truck", "just take it off" "trail will take it off if you dont" got it ;)

I need the flaps for NJ (so much road tar gets thrown on the sides of the truck without them). The flaps took a beating in Moab but didn’t get ripped-off.

Don't rock crawl or anything such as that but do live out on miles and miles of gravel, mud and snow.
A typical week has me on more gravel than pavement.
My 1990 with just shy of 300,000 has mud flaps and the body is still in great shape because of it.
Oh yeah, and for a real grandpa wagon I even have ***gasp*** running boards! ;)My truck!.jpg

    V-6 w/AT.
Have had exactly zero issues with 'gear hunting', not enough power/speed etc...that I hear so much about on this site.
Maybe they have it sorted out?

I have a 2018 SR5 AC with the 4 banger. I’m also rockin’ the mud flaps. I’ll try to post a pic tomorrow. Still have the OE tires but I’m going to get some ATs this fall.

265/70/17 on SEMA rims. 1 inch in the front. No rubbing, clean sides, no rock chips. Grandpa approves.

Flaps are OE. They seem to be enough to protect the sides without looking too large or getting snagged. I’m not a big fan of flaps, but I’m less of a fan of rock chips which was an issue with my last truck.

I like those flaps. They remind me of the ones that came on my 90 4WD truck.

I think my set up is just over the rubbing limit. I sometimes get rubbing at about half turn. I've used the heat gun on the flaps to smooth down the bump in the middle of the flap but probably need to do more. No rubbing without the flaps.

Set up: OEM lift kit (2") with 275/70/17 on 17x9 +1 offset wheels.
