Side note: what aftermarket radios does everyone have? I'm in the market for a new one so I can have room for switches.

I have a Kenwood single din. Opens up the area below for a Paranoid Fab 6 switch panel :D

I got this Pioneer unit from Crutchfield a few months ago and have been really happy with it. Bluetooth for handsfree calling and Pandora streaming as well as my iPod that stays in the glove box. I like going from the double DIN factory config to this single DIN and gaining the little storage area underneath.

I would rate the installation as a 2 on a 1-10 scale, 10=most difficult. Crutchfield will supply a Toyota-specific harness so its pretty much plug and play. It was really just a matter of bolting it in and routing the Bluetooth mic.

It came with the the lower storage compartment but you could easily replace that with a Paranoid fab switch panel if you'd rather use that space for switches. Several have gone that route and it seems to always come out really clean.

It says it's no longer available. This is exactly what I'm looking for as I'd like space for stwitches underneath the sterio. I think it looks the cleanest.

Interesting, i didnt notice that at first. Browse around Crutchfield then and see what has good reviews and has the features you want. Maybe mine has been replaced with a newer model or something by now

I've been thinking about putting a row of toggle switches there. I might buy an extra console just in case i really mess it up, but i don't see any other great spot for them unless i make a plate that mounts up in front of the shifter a bit (M/T)

??? Um you have a tacoma too right? Oh, you have a double cab which means you have an auto tranny and no "clutch start cancel" button. All the maunal trucks have that so you can by pass having to jump in the truck and push the clutch pedal down to start it. I use mine often, anytime i wanna say warm up the truck for example ill start it like that standing outside the truck so i dont have to jump in just to jump right back out while i go back in the house to let her warm up.

20150926_150148.jpg that was right after install before i buttoned everything up. I also put a rocker switch in the blank that houses the e lock switch (mines not equipped with it) and then i installed two more just above the fuse block opening. I really love the ones in the pic! I wired them into the dash lights so they look super clean at night and they get quite alot of compliments and attention. Wholly wiring though! You can get different configured switches to make things simpler and less wiring but i wanted a certain configuration so i went with the switches that have 5!! Pins on each switch and there are those 6 plus 3 over there to the left, lol. It was kinda alot of wiring work. I installed one of those bussmann relay fuse boxes under the hood too. So that the switches and all the accessories, i was a wiring master after that job was done!

Here is a pic of that relay fuse box for those of you that are curious or haven't ever seen or heard of it.

Lol I like that switch. I had a buddy that had a car follow him for 30 minutes down a road right on him when he was already speeding and so he turned on his back off lights to only find out the car behind him turned on his blue and red lights. He ended up with two tickets. Lol
