I picked up this Bl-22 a few weeks ago. It had a bunch of dents and a chip out of the stock, along with a bit of rust starting to show on the metal work, but the internals and the bore were really clean. The price was good, so I brought it home, printed off a field manual, and got to work...

    20191209_191341.jpg

I stripped it, cerakoted the steel, polished the aluminum, and re-finished the wood. I still have some finishing touches to do, but here's how it looks now...

I don't see many rifles setup like this in here, figured I'd share mine. 80's vintage Marlin 60, tech sights w/ an .042 aperture, GI cotton sling, MCARBO spring kit. With CCI standard velocity 40gr it'll put 40 rounds in a 2 inch circle at 50 yards from a sling and I scored a 225 at my first Appleseed with it before the new smaller aperture was installed. After I make distinguished (as if that's a guarantee) I'll switch to a scoped setup and try to shoot for a perfect 250.

I like the Marlin model 60, and prefer the tube over the magazine in the 795. The little 60s punch well above their price point in the accuracy department. Yours would likely out shoot my similarly equipped (Williams .050 aperture) 10/22 easily...

That model 12 looks exactly like one of my grandfather’s 22.

Thus far it's outshot everything except a Nord Arms AR upper wielded by a highpower shooter, but that may be relative skill levels speaking rather than pure accuracy.

Speaking of the Model 60, Marlin will be releasing a 150th anniversary edition at ShotShow. Finally it has the looks to go with its abilities. I'm going to try to get my hands on one of these...

I can verify the Marlin 60 is a very accurate rifle.

Earned the upper patch last Appleseed, and the lower one this time. Best score was a 239 on irons this weekend. Given that I don't want to change anything about this combo I'm thinking of putting another rifle together to try for 250. The search begins...

Sorry, I must have missed this...Cost of rifle and supplies/work done equals about 400 Canadian Pesos. I think that's around 37 cents in US funds.

Savage .22 southpaw edition with a vortex 6x24x50. I was shooting clay pigeons at 220 yards with IIRC 24 inches of elevation dialed in. Fun day and a sweet shooting rifle!

Mine when it was stamped it says pepeding instead of repeating. Being a single shot couldn’t figure the repeating part. My grandfather and his brothers went together to get it in the 1920’s . I’ve shot a lot of grey squirrels with it.
