    Opening your home and heart to a rescue animal with an unknown history is always a risk worth taking. You will be missed Pepper.

    At this point the wife and I can only speculate what happened to her. When we adopted Pepper we thought that she was a little over a year old. But because hind sight is what it is, and with input from our vet, we have concluded that she was at least 6 years old and already diabetic when her previous owner surrendered her.

    She was being treated for what we assumed was wrong with her (based on assumed age), a UTI. Pepper had started to show signs of recovery since last weekend, but she deteriorated quickly Monday night through Tuesday morning. By the time we got home on Tuesday she had slipped into a coma and we didn't get a chance to take her to the vet. She finally passed sometime between 7 and 830pm. I buried her last night in the dark after our daughter was asleep and in the bed. We are hoping that she does not notice that Pepper isn't around until this weekend when we will share the sad news.

    Love the ones you have and always rescue.

    Alley cat in Port Richmond Philadelphia saved by one of my customers and now is one of three "office" cats. :cool:
