We lost Ponce for two days once. He's 10 now, this was back when he was 3.
It was just before Christmas and during a wicked cold snap - like 10* high temps.
We put signs up all over. I eventually found him hiding in a neighbors overturned trash can sheltering from the wind.
He was eventually fine but when I got him he was a catcicle!

Here's a few. She can be pretty damn annoying. Got her from the vet, where someone dropped off a few kittens they found. She's a year something old I think? Can't remember.

    It is.

My Ponce is a complete dumbass though... When I found him he was only two houses down from us.

We've had him and Augi (his sister) since before we had kids - we adopted them both on our honeymoon actually. I'm rather attached to them both.

My wife never had cats but I had several growing up. He may be dumb as a bag of hammers but Ponce is hands down the best cat I've ever had.

Opposite. My wife always had cats growing up. I didn't.
I also have a dumb one and a smart as a whip one.

Course we're baby sitting my sister in law's cat and it's cross eyed and dumber than the dumbest thing you can think of.

    Yea, I hate that feeling.

A few years back, my wife had a litter of Russian Blues. One day we heard a pack of coyotes in the area, and only 1 of the 5 kittens returned that evening. We looked for hours with no luck. Had a glimmer of hope when a neighbor came by and said he found one of our kittens. I go to his house, but all there was left was a paw. 1 single paw. Made me sick to my stomach.

Now our cats are strictly indoors.

We have been lucky with Amigo getting out of the house. Usually, if he does venture out an open door, I just tell him to get back in the house and that is what he does. Of course he always gets a lot of head rubs and back scratches when he gets back in the house. [IMG]

No worries. Just keep loving him and he will always be your friend. Amigo is my first cat, but probably not my last, and I find his love and affection every bit as much as a dog. I should have trained him to be a garage cat when he was a kitten. ;)

20 years old and getting to be extremely needy and more picky with his food.
Also pretty thin... he's been wearing his sweater for a couple of weeks. Wife takes it off of him during the warmest part of the day so he can bathe himself... puts it back on when he "asks"

He's had a damned good run for a guy that was found in the middle of the highway barely weaned back in '94. He's as loving and attached to me as any dog.

We've been very fortunate with his health.
He's only been to the vet twice... once for worms and once for a UTI, both when he was less than 5 years old.
He's an indoor cat (and with his teeth pretty much gone would not make it a week outdoors), so the only time he even gets his shots is when we take him to the vet to board while we are on vacation.

What does his diet consist of at that age?

I had a cat growing up that lived to 16... She was pretty skinny late in life too.

Pretty impressive story on your cat rich, i wish ours had made it to 20

He was a outdoor cat, his name was blackie, and my grandparents found him out wandering around on halloween night.
He scrounged around in the city when we lived there, saw a few times a week, didn't really depend on us for food or water, but we kept some out for him anyway.

He started staying at the house about 2 weeks before we moved out the the "sticks" and we were able to take him with us.

After we moved he was a outdoor only cat (his choice, but every once in a while he'd wander in for some loving and milk), then about 2 weeks before he disappeared he would spend all day in the house and get as much petting from us as he could.
One night he disappeared and we haven't seen him since, but he was at least 15 when he disappeared.

Whatever the hell he asks for.

Today, he got chicken pate for breakfast.
Didn't eat any of it and spent the day yelling at my wife.

Around 4, she gave him some chicken and liver pate and he gobbled it up.
2 weeks ago, he wouldn't eat liver and loved chicken.

He pretty much can't handle the shredded or cuts... he'll gobble them down, then puke soon after, or he'll just lick up the gravy and leave the rest.
When we have fish, we'll give him some treats, but salmon or tuna pate gives him the shits... and it's like he doesn't realize he's got them because he'll just stand there, look at us, and POOOT! Almost like he thinks he's just going to fart. Other than that, we've never had a problem with him missing the box.
