Thanks guys! He was the sweetest little kitty and my daughter just loved him (as did we all). He ran under my tire while I was backing out. I had the loss paired with the guilt.

We’ve recovered just fine, but haven’t found a suitable replacement.

 

OMG. Your daughter, with knowledge of that accident, will have a difficult relationship with you. I hope you are able to get her some help with that.

 

We’re keeping a close eye on her. She was in The truck when it happened, so she knows I was being very careful. Thankfully she didn’t see anything!

 

I'm sure you know, a child will not have the experience and judgement to put it in perspective as an adult will have. As an example, when I was 4, I received a special gift mug from an Uncle, which I loved and insisted on using for everything I drank. My Father accidentally broke it while doing dishes one evening, and I would not understand nor forgive him, thinking he was mad at me and broke it on purpose, and it did affect our relationship.

A number of years ago, we tried the backyard chicken thing and had 6 until we determined that Henrietta was actually a Henry....so 5. They were nice ladies and the 2 boys, Wally & The Grom, pretty much just sat back and watched the ladies. One day Gromit did that kitty thing where they approach the new cat or whatever and boop noses. Poor Grom went in for the innocent BOOP and the bird just gave him one solid-ass peck right between the eyes. I could hear the thump from 10 yards! Major sour puss look was given and neither cat went close to those birds again!
