Too cute. That little kitten has his tough Marine dad totally wrapped around his little pink paw (and that’s the way it should be)

That's a horrible idea. What time?
It's a Marine thing. And associating the cute kitten to a dog face just isn't right.

    "dog face" :laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

That "cute kitten" is very deceiving all you suckers!!!:devil:

But yeah, I get it. My dad was/is a Marine and Vietnam vet. I don't know exactly when he was deployed, "unit", etc? He didn't like talking much about it other than I distinctly remember him telling me he was a part of "Charlie Company" and would tell me stories, on occasion, of how they got raided just about every night.

Anyways, I never pushed the conversation and just gave him is due respect.

He was in for 21yrs active and I believe 10yrs reserve. I remember him 'retiring" in 1979 and officially retiring in 1989.

Thank him for his service for me. Deep respect for that generation and the crap they went through when they came home. Anytime a combat veteran wants to talk about their experience, listen. I was honored when a 'Nam vet told me what happened to him and the attack on his squad. His wife was absolutely stunned when she found out that he had talked to me. He gave me a book to read called "Sand In the Wind," about a private in 'Nam who was assigned the grenade launcher. It followed his story through the war. Not giving away the end, but when I answered his question about what I thought of the book, I think he knew that I understood what that book was about. A few weeks later over a beer in his back yard, he told me about his experience.

If a veteran, especially a combat veteran trusts you enough to talk to you about his / her experience. Consider it an honor, and listen. It says something about both of you.

Nothing in your house, or surrounding areas, is yours anymore. Just a fact of cat life. You live to serve the felion.

I completely agree! My nephew told me about his worst encounter in Afghanistan one afternoon over a beer during a family get together. He said he has never told anyone else about it, especially his parents. I feel very honored that he would confide in me. And I have never said a word to his parents about what he went through. God Bless that boy! He is a hero!

My dad passed away in Feb 2008. We did talk as I would ask questions trying to separate fact from "Hollyweird" fiction. He just didn't care to talk about it too much and it was those times I never pushed the conversation. When I was old enough to drive, I'd take him to work because he would let me use the car so I could go to school. Anyways, he would ALWAYS want me to take him through base (i.e. Camp Pendleton) and I just hated it because you had to really watch your speed on base and there were definitely "speed traps" in certain areas. :ballchain::crapstorm: HAHAHA, most of the gate sentry's knew him by name he talked to them asking to come back.:laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Boy was it extremely hard watching war movies with him!!! He'd criticize the most detailed crap? :infantry::bananadead::facepalm: He would even tell me, "shut that fucking thing off, fucking God damn stupid shit...!!!" :crapstorm: I would then typically shut it off and go watch it on another TV. :spy:

IF I remember correctly the ONLY movie he LOVED was "Full Metal Jacket"... IF I remember correctly? Anyways, he said it was the most realistic portrayal of what happened during training (boot) and just the movie in general.

About my little knuckle-head cat, yeah, I'm finding out the hard way. Lucky little turd I took her in, BUT... I AM VERY HAPPY I took the little turd in!!! Just wished she mind her damn business with MY food!!! o_O:annoyed::devil::laughing::laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Those sound like good memories and good quality time with dad. Mine passed in 2013, way too soon for me.

Full Metal Jacket is widely acclaimed to be the most accurate portrayal of that era. And we have similar rules about certain shows / movies for my wife and I.

Cats can learn. When they want to. Sampson loves to curl up next to me on the couch for belly rubs and the ensuing nap. He has learned he has to wait until we're done eating (yes, on the couch with the TV on). As soon as the plate gets put down, he's at my side.

I know it’s off topic but I feel compelled to chime in.
One of my Dad’s friends when I was growing up was an Army Vet and was in the Korean War.
He was captured and was a POW.
When I was about 16 years old he told me the story of his capture and eventual escape and the ordeal of getting back it of enemy territory.
He didn’t hold back many details except how they overcame and killed their captors.
I’ll carry that story with me always and honor the memory of those who served for the rest of my days.
He passed nearly 20 years ago before my wife and I were married but I attended his funeral with her.

Oh just wait, you ain’t seen nothing yet. The little shit will take over your entire house (and your heart). You don’t realize it but you are becoming her servant. She should have you trained in a month or two. This is going to be good. Keep us updated as to how your training is coming. ,
