Spike has found a buddy with Betty Sue for sure; cuddling and playing is constant now, coming up on 3 weeks since Spike came home.

Betty Sue, lost her eyes when she was 6 weeks, coming up on 3 years old now, she has really helped Spike calm down and gain confidence in his new environment.

I lost a 6 month old kitten to FIP who was Betty Sue’s friend at the shelter I adopted from. Ever since, she has been looking for a playmate or friend.





McLovin, Betty Sue’s buddy who passed at 6 months from FIP. All beat up after eye surgery, first night home, he was an amazing little guy.


With Betty a few days after she came home.

Sounds like progress, but it may take awhile especially since Pearl has been bullied. Unfortunately if a cat takes on a timid or passive stance, some other cats sense the nervous energy and react to it. I’ve had it in my house where a cat who slinks through the room gets chased for no other reason.

If she’s taken on this stance, helping her get confident on her own will help her just feel more confident in the house, and that could be less triggering for Beethoven too.

Jackson Galaxy has some videos on helping cats gain confidence after being traumatized, in case you haven’t run across those yet on YT.

I did see how to introduce cats and currently that is what I am doing. I have to do it a bit different given how my apt layout is set up. So, I have to try to work with with what I have unfortunately.

But yeah, there definitely is progress. Pearl is mostly okay with me.

Beethoven, is a different story, but it really is getting better. In all reality, he just wants to play as I'm sure he is bored while I'm away at work. But with her coming from a bullied background, she doesn't see it that way unfortunately and that is what I am working on.

But yeah, there is progress for sure.
