The same thing used to happen when I didn't buy enough beer for Buddy, but somehow the smells inside made up for my mistake.

well it appears someone dumped a cat by our place, its like the cat in the second pic. Nice cat, I noticed it hanging out by my shop yesterday so I had some bread from my bear bait that the cat seemed to eat. I figured it would take off and find a house but today after fishing it was sitting inside my shop! it basically crawled under the door because I moved the obstructions when I pulled the boat out. seems like a nice cat and let me pick it up. I was a little skiddish but I brought it to the house and gave it some food and water, guess its going to be an outdoor cat because I dont want another indoor cat;) See if it sticks around or not.

If it's like the cat in the second pic its female and you should make sure she's spayed. Unless you want kittens!

Cheech was in monday for his check up. He'll be good to go back to dry food! This is good because hes been chowing down on the dry food the other cats get.
When I put him in the crate he went crazy. Obviously he remembers the last trip. So he got to sit shotty with the harness.20180514_090055.jpg

Im pretty sure shes spayed, its hard to tell if shes got a scar because she wont let me look at her belly too much. Just wants to be petted, and to eat;) She does have a clipped ear so I dont know if thats a thing everywhere but around here they clip the ear to show they are spayed. I also cant get a good pic of her because she wont look at the camera LOL

I dont know why she got dumped, she looks in good health other than a little skinny. really nice cat, lets you pick her up, surprisingly. Shes probably ate a cup food last night and a little this morning. Not too playful so maybe a couple years old. I tried to get a look at her teeth and they seem to be in good condition. Purrs a lot, and meows when its hungry...LOL

We had one dumped by our house when we lived in MD and he also was a super nice kitten but full of fleas and we had to get the house bombed after that fiasco...but ended up getting a good home for him. Thats one reason I wont bring a stray in anymore but I'll feed it outside. Just seems like an injustice to dump a friendly, healthy cat.

Yep. She's a spayed feral, with an ear like that. They did the same thing with Smokey, before we got him. Even though he's definitely not feral; he's just an easily panicked cat who takes a little while to warm up to people.

yeah shes also not feral as far as I can tell, just homeless...but shes welcome here if she sticks around. I know she hasnt been around too long since she just showed up in the last few days. She must have found some water somewhere because she didnt act too thirsty.

I'd be happy to cover the flea treatment if it meant she would get a good home. Agree about bringing them in BEFORE getting them cleaned up. You also need to make sure she won't give anything nasty to your other cats. We've taken strays like this straight to our vet for tests (FIV, rabies, etc.) shots, worming, and flea stuff as a first step. Then they get to live in a bedroom until all the test results come back okay. Our vet is cool about it and doesn't charge full price for charity cases.

I think we have some stuff for our house cat I might try to get her a treatment. If she sticks around we might try to take her to the vet and see if she's chipped and get her a checkup. I tried to feel on her neck and didnt feel anything like a chip but I know they are small.

I have read that dry food is better for a cat's teeth, also they say if you put cat treats inside your cat carrier regularly, they associate the carrier with getting a reward and won't be so fearful of traveling in it.

keep the carrier out at all times, and put a blanket and toys in it maybe even cover it with a blanket. use treats to get them to go in it. after awhile they will like going in there, and it's alot less stressful on them when you have to take them places

Funny thing is, my cat made that same expression (with his ears backwards) when we took him to the vet and she stuck a thermometer up his butt
