Nah, his expression is much more "what?" or "can I help you?" than "look what I did"
He saves that face for when he brings us back dead rodents.

I see. I guess I get that look because mine are totally incapable of bringing me anything that actually once lived (I’m not complaining). They are lucky if they can catch a housefly. Definitely wouldn’t do well outside.

Out boy Henry (picture from May when he had his teeth worked on) is in the cat hospital again. He stared acting like he didn't feel well on Sunday afternoon, and stopped eating Monday. He's had urinary issues once or twice, so we started watching to see if he was peeing okay. We set up a box and feeding station in our guest room and the wife stayed in there with him from dinner time Monday until this morning. He never used the box. Then around 10:00 this morning his breathing became rapid and shallow. By the time she got him to the vet his nose was purple and he was unconscious. All this in two days. The vet put him on oxygen and a diuretic. He came around and peed eventually - so no blockage - but he's still very weak. They checked his heart and didn't find any signs of heart failure or other issues. A chest x-ray shows a diffuse haze covering both lungs. It's not fluid in or around the lungs. Our vet - who is both very good and young enough to be current - has no idea what's going on, but is guessing it's a lung infection or inflammation from some other cause. She is sending the x-rays and ultrasound images to Ohio State Vet School for an emergency consultation. She's also taking blood and other samples and sending them out for stat analysis. For now he's stable on oxygen, Lasix and a mild opioid to calm him down. The wife is somewhat less than stable.

We have no clue what's going on. He's an indoor cat, though he sneaks out every once in awhile for a few minutes before we catch him. The other two cats are fine. Anyone heard of anything like this?

UPDATE: They just added a broad spectrum antibiotic to cover the possibility that it's a bacterial infection. He's not doing too good, and they want to cover as many bases as possible.

Just got back from the second hospital. Had to move him for specialized tests. The presentation was atypical, and he's young, but it's congestive heart failure. Never heard of it coming on so quick. Had to leave him for the night because he was still unstable and needs oxygen and Lasix. We will talk to the cardiologist in the morning, but it's really just to find out how bad it is on a scale of bad-to-worse. Average life expectancy is 6-12 months after diagnosis, and multiple daily meds are typically required. We are heartbroken.
