LOL, what the heck is wrong with my cat? (Hah, I bet no one has said that before.) So I'm cleaning the coffee pot and when I go to dump the grounds I spill a little on the floor. I turn around to grab a cloth to wipe it up and when I turn back around the cat is eating the grounds. I didn't even know he liked coffee. I'm keeping an eye on him in case there are any adverse effects but think he will be fine. He does seem to be a little more wide awake than usual for this time of day.

Angel and I have been kindered spirits now for 24 hours. I had oral surgery yesterday in the same part of my mouth that Angel had her growth removed. At least hers was exterior to her gum while mine was interior. She's been highly perceptive though because she got very cuddly when I got home and slept with her back touching my swollen cheek and lip. I think she was trying to protect it in her own way. I cradled her with my arm all night and whenever I tried to move it, she took her paw and pulled it back. She only got up when it was breakfast time.

It never ceases to amaze me how tuned in animals can be to us when we are bonded so closely.

Be careful. Caffeine can kill cats and dogs, and its not a good way to go for them.

Yeah, I already knew of the dangers of caffeine to cats but it was just a pinch of grounds and it had already been through the machine so it wasn't likely to have much caffeine left. Anyway, I've kept an eye on him all day and he seems fine.

You’re right it’s amazing how receptive they are when one of us is down. Several years back when I ate crap on my bike I had spent a week in the hospital and when I got home I spent another week in bed without hardly moving. Our late cate Maxie was glued to me like never before. Even when I’d have multiple friends stop by to visit she stayed right there as if she was protecting me. Had this just been a normal day she would have bolted immediately. When Suki got sick and had surgery a while back I laid next to her cradling her as you described and she would fall asleep like that for hours. I really think she knew she was safe And I wouldn’t let anything happen to her while she was recovering. If I put her in the same position now she may only stay for about 5 minutes and then she’s over it. I think cats and people, alike, help each other get through the worst of times especially when we are truly bonded with them.

So my girls insisted on bringing home this very sick little kitten from the shelter a few weeks ago. She was about 12 weeks old and suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection. Not eating or drinking. She weighed less than 2 pounds. I really didn't want to. But my wife and daughters really did.

We kept her hydrated with water and gravy from Blue Buffalo turkey and gravy with a syringe. She was also isolated from our other cat for about a month.

She's been on 4 rounds of antibiotics and has greatly improved. Still on the last antibiotic.

Eats like a starving horse these days. Weights over 3 pounds now. She and our resident cat are getting along great.

The day we brought her home. Not much energy out of her. Couldn't breathe well at all.

We found a tiny cat while eating on the patio of a local Thai restaurant. She was slowly going from table to table begging for food. We scooped her up and took her to our vet, then home for rehab. Like yours, she was skinny and sluggish with several health issues. We got her cleaned up and well fed, and one day she just perked up and became a bouncy little thing. It was like someone flipped a switch. We kept her a few more weeks just to be sure, then one of the girls at work adopted her. I get frequent updates, and she's apparently a ball of energy. We called her Dumpling, because that's what we were eating when she came over to us. Sorry, but I don't have a pic of her here at work.
