Arthur somehow pulls the tree light bulbs out of their sockets and then bats them all around the house. He and his brother also enjoy climbing it together, so we now have to put the tree up in room with the door closed unless we're in there.

Mine don’t climb it they just like to fuck with the tree skirt and train. Once in a while we’ll find a missing ornament or two but for the most part we’re ok.

We find ornaments all over the house and have to resort to plastic balls on tree for the first 2 feet off the floor. Angel and Breezy love to live under the tree when it’s up and Angel will actually climb up into the artificial trees.

I actually found Arthur sleeping half-way up inside our tree one year. That was the last year of unsupervised access.

Decided to take some time away from work this week. Let’s just say someone in the house is a huge fan of having me home. If this was any other day she wouldn’t care that I was home or not. I really have to pee but this is such a rare occurrence I hate to move her.

We are both fearing what is going to happen to our Christmas tree this year. Amos just turned 1 and is a very clumsy 15 pounds. I’m just dreading coming home to our tree laying on its side. Two years ago we bought a serious tree base that’s very heavy duty with wide legs- hope this does it.

There’s a scene in a book series by Robin Hobb. The protagonist of the story, Fitz, has the ability to telepathically speak to animals. Fitz is a decidedly dog loving fellow, but when he meets a cat who is able to speak to him, as not all animals are, the cat says to Fitz: ‘Make a lap. By the fire.’

He can’t help but do what he’s told.

EDIT: He wasn’t somehow doing the cat’s bidding; he just couldn’t help but listen to her. Cats are imperious like that.

My dad make a bracket that he attaches to the wall to keep his cats from taking his tree down. They don't climb it, but you can't hang anything breakable on the lower branches.

Male or Female - Which would you pick?

Since Abigail passed (1 month ago) my wife has been looking at another cat to adopt. She keeps sending me female cats. I wanted to see what you all thought on the reason why she wants only a female.

As a general rule of thumb there are fewer territorial issues with marking. My two completely destroyed that theory though. Another guess is it's just a girl thing.

    Male....
We have had great luck with Male cats.
Females tend to be pissy and antisocial.

males are ok so long as they are neutered at the appropriate age. They usually dont "mark" anything. but typically we get female animals. as noted by our female cat and dog currently in the home.

I’d have to say female too. We’ve always had better luck with them being more lovable, less destructive and overall seeeter demeanor. With that said after Albert passed away and we decided to get another cat it was a no brainer to get another boy kitty. 3 girls plus my wife would have been more than I could handle. Boy or girls you’ll know when you see the right one... or two.

Never had a boy cat until my Ponce. He was the most loving cat I’ve ever had & the definition of lap cat. Now we have Ollie & Harry and those two are both also lappers.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Augi cat too but the boys are total snugglers & I love them.

I think you'll know when you go to adopt one, but I would probably lean towards a female. They seem easier to take care of with less heath issues (at least with ours so far).

My boy Enzo is like a dog, comes when called and loves to cuddle. But he is bi-polar sometimes and pees like an asshole. Also he has had multiple urinary problems years ago that we finally have gotten rid of with the right diet. I guess the boy cats have very small urethra's and it makes them more susceptible to that. Our two girls are great. They're affectionate, love to play, use the litter box like ladies and are just have a great demeanor overall.

But like I said (and others before), the cat will probably pick you...male or female lol

Oh and Rex, our new stray we brought in, is a male. So far so good. I think since he lived under the house for a bit in the “wild” he covers his pee in the litter box and stuff (which Enzo doesn’t do).

None of our cats have ever marked anything with urine, just their cheeks and claws haha

Here’s Rex and Lola. He ran up to annoy her and she just licked him until they both passed out. You can see Enzo in the background, not amused...
