Our ringtail we got from the shelter. Didn't know it had ringtail in it until it got a little older. Acts more like a dog. Follows you around, will climb in the shower, runs to the door we the wife drives up, and doesn't shed!!! Now, if I can just train it to stay off the kitchen counters.

Keeping a cat off of a counter is like keeping a black truck clean.

It can be done, but it's going to be a full-time job.

It’s like either the cat was born with no interest in the counter, or it does and you’ll never get it to cease and desist lol.

Fact. And a determined cat has to be worked around, not against.

My grandmother's Maine Coon loved the curtain rods. He would work his way onto the counter by the stove, jump across the 5' gap over the sink to another set of cabinets, and then leap over to the curtains...and take them down.

Grandpa put in beefier rods...and all 24 pounds of Smokey took them out.

Grandpa sank lag bolts into the structure...and Smokey still broke the bars.

Grandpa then built a shelf that ran along the ceiling right above the curtains. THAT actually worked. It still looked like the curtains had a roof...

 Did you just say train??

So why do I have cats and a black truck!!?? :annoyed:

Thankfully of all the cats we’ve had, only one liked the counter tops. Nothing we did would keep her off of them. We’d go tell her to get down and she’d just give us a look. Great kitty! RIP

Now our dining room table, that’s a different story. We’ve given up on that. One will be sitting on it and the others will be sitting on the chairs. We never use it so I guess it’s okay. At least that’s what I tell myself.

 What we don’t do for them.

Taking our 12 year old to have a melanoma removed from his shoulder today. We are hoping it comes back benign. In the pre op his lungs were more shadowed than the vet would like and she, and the radiologist said it could be either age or cancer that has spread (from the melanoma:notsure:). She’s thinking if the melanoma comes back as malignant then it may have spread to his lungs. If it comes back benign then possibly old age and we will recheck in a few months. His blood work came back great and he has no obvious issues so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

He did sing us the song of his people all the way to the vet.

Thanks! We are definitely staying positive. All things point to a good outcome. His surgery went well and he is home now.
