You and your wife are awesome for doing this!

    :anonymous:
I agree, I think fostering takes a very special person. You need to be able to let them go, knowing you did a special thing for them. I, and my wife, definitely do not have the ability to give them up. Pretty much once they come into our house they are here to stay.

    :D

Does he ever figure out how to knock the coaster off? Or is it too heavy?

Thankfully no...he just walks up to the glass and sniffs the coaster and gives up lol.

Speaking of cats, the last 2 nights we've been jolted out of bed at 2 - 3 in the morning because of them. 2 nights ago we woke up to the sound of a bunch of liquor/wine bottles hitting the floor in the dining room. We keep all our liquor bottles and supplies on a shelf in there and there's a window above that, we think one of the cats must have been on the window sill and got spooked and fell into the bottles. Scared the living crap out of us. Luckily none of them broke

Then last night, I wake up to the sound of our motion alarm going off from the front porch...I have one of those inexpensive chime alarms that sounds off when something moves in front of it. It'll sometimes go off if a bird or something goes right past it, but that only sets it off once. If it gets set off twice or more, that's when I worry because that likely means that someone is at the front door and/or trying to get in.

So at 3am that one goes off, multiple times. I jump out of bed in my boxers, throw my glasses on and grab my knife and taser and head to the front door. I pull back the curtains and there's 2 neighborhood cats on our front porch circling the pillar where the alarm sensor is, their tails just tall enough to set it off.

Gonna have to raise that up higher this weekend

Our 3 cats have moments like that but then other times it's like they've declared war on one another. Usually it's a daytime vs nighttime thing...daytime tends to be when the ceasefire is in effect, nighttime is when someone has broken the peace treaty and war is declared one again

That seems to be our routine as well with Bella and Breezy with Breezy being the instigator by hissing and growling for her personal space. Bella, who isn't one to take her crap for too long ( but is getting better ), will eventually stand up for herself and start the 12 inch staring contest. Breezy will eventually cave and try to escape... Naturally, Bella's chase instinct kicks in and sometimes catches Breezy, unholy screams ensue with occasional fur flying, we show up and split it up and Bella normally going on a 20-30 minute timeout. That's normally enough time for her to calm down and get the "I'm going to kill you for this" look out of her eyes.

After the timeout, she's happy to see mom or dad, her tail flickers, we get the "hello" chirp, and all is good. It's been 7 months with these two and we're still trying to figure out the best routine to maintain the peace as best as possible.
