I thought seriously about pursuing a veterinarian career when I was younger, but then and even now I just don't think I could handle the side of it that deals with euthanasia and pets dying. I have a lot of respect for the men and women that can handle that every day as part of their job

Same for me. I could deal with in legitimate scenarios, but when a pet is put down for no other reason other than the owners couldn't afford anything else would cause me to have a large zoo.

It's sad too because of how real that is, my wife and I aren't rich but we're doing well for ourselves. When Mo got sick suddenly last month it basically came down to that and its terrible because you can't help but feel the guilt over it. My wife spent over 2 grand over 2 days for him to get tests done, IV fluids, meds and weekend "emergency" vet hour fees...basically the choice came down to us doing another couple days of the same thing (plus another couple thousand dollars) to see if he may improve, or decide at that time to say goodbye.
It's a terrible position to be in. But we feel we made the right call, the vet told us that since the initial round of treatment didn't work, the second round was even less likely too and he'd be in pain the whole time. But... there's always the chance it could work. Its a horrible spot to be in that most of us pet owners are faced with at some point.

Pet insurance was always something I've been told is a waste of money but after what we went through with Mo I'm considering doing it for our other cats.

Any of you guys have any insight into pet health insurance? I've never had it before

Here is a typical night of relaxing on the couch and hanging out. You can spy the third fur monster in the background on my dining room table A4E68A9B-C084-4130-A523-67237605CBB1.jpgD14B9950-4419-4818-BF5E-46773B9F22E4.jpg6D2DD162-5482-4E39-959C-B962FEFBE7A3.jpg
